What If Your Next Breath Was Your Last?
What if we reframed your next breath as if it were the last or first you would ever take? Try it and see how mindful you become. Apply this concept to other aspects of your life and you will soon be present for it all, not distracted or lost, but here now.

Breathing is a boring thing to focus upon,
And yet that's what we do with meditation.
Your mind wanders,
You bring it back.
Can we make it more interesting?
What if we reframed it?
This very next breath,
The one you're about to take,
Is the last breath you will ever take.
Or if you don't want to be so morbid,
Perhaps the first breath you'll ever take.
Give it a try.
Focus upon the breath right now like it's the first or the last breath you will ever take.
Ready?
How much more focused,
More present,
More aware of the breath were you?
I don't know about you,
But for me,
It's like,
I don't want that breath to end.
I want to be there every single microsecond of it.
What if we applied that same logic to everything?
To cleaning the dishes,
Feeling the warmth of the hand upon your skin,
Looking at the sky and seeing the clouds,
The sunrise,
This very moment,
The next time you talk to someone,
Right?
It's the first or the last time you'll ever do that.
What a refrain.
What a way to really be there for your life.
I tell you what,
If you do this practice daily,
If you pull yourself into the moment,
Give yourself a mental reframe like this is never happening again.
This is the first or the last breath I will ever take.
This is the last time I'm going to speak to this person.
This is the first of the last time I'll do this activity.
You're going to be there for your life.
You're not going to be off focusing on the past or on the future or like randomly scrolling on your phone.
It's like,
This is the last time I'm ever going to be in my body.
You could try it now.
Be in you.
Be you for the next five seconds.
Just five seconds of this moment.
Because I tell you what,
This moment is ending.
You're never getting it back.
This is it.
Five seconds.
Ready?
This is it.
That five seconds is gone.
Were you there for it?
You're going to be there for the next.
