Hi there.
Today we're going to play a game called Cook the Spaghetti.
All you need to do for this game is lie down and get yourself comfortable.
You can close down the eyes if you wish and take a deep,
Slow breath in through the nose and out through the mouth.
Now I want you to think about in your mind what spaghetti looks like.
Do you know before spaghetti is cooked,
It's super rigid,
It's super strong and you can like break it pretty easily because it's so tense?
I want you to picture that sort of spaghetti in your mind and how it can be super tense.
But then after the spaghetti is cooked,
What happens to it?
It becomes super floppy,
Super loosey goosey.
So what we're going to do today is turn your body from raw spaghetti that's super tense into cooked spaghetti.
And what we're going to do to cook the spaghetti is squeeze the muscles in our body first separately and then all at once.
And in that way,
We're going to relax ourselves and calm ourselves down.
Because do you know when we get angry or annoyed or scared or frustrated,
Our body gets tense.
But a really good way to calm ourselves down is to do some slow,
Calm breathing and tense and relax and squeeze and relax our muscles.
So to play cooked spaghetti,
I want you to take a slow,
Calm breath in through your nose and out through your mouth.
And we're just going to squeeze our body in turn and then we're going to cook the spaghetti.
You ready?
Let's give it a try.
So laying down,
Take a big deep breath in through the nose and out through the mouth and just squeeze,
Squeeze,
Squeeze,
Squeeze your toes and then relax.
Okay,
Now we're going to do our legs.
Are you ready to squeeze your legs?
Ready and squeeze,
Squeeze,
Squeeze,
Squeeze,
Squeeze,
Squeeze them and relax.
Now we're going to do our back and our bottoms.
We're going to squeeze,
Squeeze,
Squeeze,
Squeeze,
Squeeze,
Squeeze,
Squeeze,
Squeeze,
Squeeze,
Squeeze,
Squeeze,
Squeeze and relax.
Can you feel your body relaxing?
It's really good,
Isn't it?
Now take another big slow breath in through the nose and out through the mouth.
And we're going to now squeeze our bellies.
Squeeze,
Squeeze,
Squeeze,
Squeeze,
Squeeze,
Super tight and relax.
Good job.
You're doing so good.
And we're going to go up to our chests and our shoulders.
Are you ready?
And squeeze,
Squeeze,
Squeeze,
Squeeze,
Squeeze,
Squeeze and relax.
Great job.
All right,
We're almost through the whole body.
Then we're going to cook the spaghetti all at once.
Ready?
Focusing on your arms and your hands.
Squeeze those little fists.
Squeeze your arms.
Squeeze,
Squeeze,
Squeeze,
Squeeze,
Squeeze,
Squeeze and relax.
All right,
Now we're onto our face and our head.
Are you ready to scrunch and squeeze your face up?
Make a silly,
Scrunchy,
Squeezy face.
Squeeze,
Squeeze,
Squeeze,
Squeeze,
Squeeze,
Squeeze.
Relax.
Okay,
I bet you,
I bet you your body is feeling a little bit more relaxed already.
But now,
And this is how you play cooked spaghetti.
You had to practice a little bit first.
But now we're ready to fully cook the spaghetti.
Now to cook spaghetti,
To cook your body spaghetti this is,
It only takes five seconds.
Just five seconds of super squeezing every single muscle in your body all at once.
You might make a silly face.
You might clench your fists.
You might clench your toes.
You're going to do your legs,
Your belly,
Your back.
You're going to do your legs,
Your belly,
Your back.
You're going to do your legs,
Your belly,
Your back.
You're going to do your legs,
Your back,
Your chest,
Everything all at once.
And we're going to squeeze everything for five seconds.
And then you're going to be cooked.
Are you ready?
Take a big slow breath in through the nose and out through the mouth.
And squeeze,
Squeeze,
Squeeze,
Squeeze,
Squeeze.
Squeeze everything,
Your feet,
Your hands,
Your mouth,
Your face,
Your belly,
Your arms,
Everything.
Five seconds,
Five.
Squeeze,
Squeeze,
Four,
Three.
Squeeze,
Squeeze,
Squeeze,
Squeeze,
Two,
One.
And relax.
Move your body.
Wiggle it.
Wobble it.
How do you feel?
Do you feel relaxed?
I like to cook spaghetti three times,
The body spaghetti.
So we're going to do this another couple of times.
You ready?
And squeeze,
Squeeze,
Squeeze.
Squeeze your whole body.
Squeeze your feet.
Squeeze your arms.
Squeeze your belly.
Squeeze your face.
Squeeze your toes.
Squeeze,
Squeeze,
Squeeze.
Five seconds.
Squeeze,
Squeeze,
Four,
Three,
Two,
One.
And relax.
Tell me,
Is your body feeling more relaxed right now?
I know that when I cook the spaghetti,
I'm more relaxed.
My body gets super relaxed.
And what I like to do is,
When I'm feeling a bit angry,
Or even just before bed,
And I just want to calm my body down,
I cook the spaghetti a few times,
Just laying there in bed.
Pretty good idea.
Or if I've had a bit of an argument,
Or if I'm feeling a bit frustrated because something didn't go my way,
I can cook the spaghetti then.
So we're going to do it one more time.
Squeeze every single muscle in our body.
Squeeze,
Squeeze,
Squeeze.
Squeeze the hands.
Squeeze the feet.
Squeeze the belly.
Squeeze your face.
Five seconds.
Squeeze,
Squeeze,
Four,
Three.
Cook that spaghetti.
Two,
One.
And relax.
So if you ever feel frustrated or angry,
Or you want to just calm yourself down,
You can always cook the spaghetti.
Tensing your muscles and then relaxing them all at once.
Also doing some slow,
Calm breaths in there.
So you can do that anytime.
And you can remind your parents to do it as well.
It's pretty fun to cook the spaghetti.
Now in the classroom,
I want you to let me know how you found the cook the spaghetti game.
Was it super fun?
Was it meh?
Or was it boring?
You tell me.
And also,
You can ask me any questions you like about the cooking spaghetti game,
Or about meditation or relaxation in general.
Have a great day,
And I will see you next time.
Catch ya.
Hey there.
I just wanted to say that this track was taken from one of my kids' courses here on Insight Timer.
If you'd like to do more of this,
Of course,
Head over to my profile and join in.
I'd love to see you there.
