We have a habit of dwelling either in the past or dreaming about the future... we might cling to it as golden memories of the yesteryears or worry about the future. Whichever direction the mind might be in - we are losing out on the precious moments of the here and now. And once the here and now is gone - we end up reminiscing about it. This guided meditation will allow us to drop the baggage or the suitcases that we carry around...so that we can live life in the moment.

Namaste.

Take a few seconds to make yourself absolutely comfortable.

Relaxing your body.

Softening any unnecessary tension in your belly and shoulders.

Using a posture that will keep you both relaxed and alert.

Gently closing your eyes.

Using a few moments to scan your entire body for any sensations,

Any tightness.

And releasing the obvious areas with the help of three deep breaths.

Breathing in deeply in through your nostrils.

Exhaling your belly and then allowing yourself to exhale slowly and gently out from your mouth.

Activating the parasympathetic nervous system.

Being aware of your chest rising and falling with each deep breath.

Resuming your natural breath of just watching the rhythm.

Taking a moment to be absolutely aware of your state of mind and how your body feels.

I'd like to now invite you to imagine standing in the street outside your house with two heavy suitcases.

One of those suitcases is full of worries about the future.

And the other suitcase full of regrets about the past.

As you stand in the street holding these two heavy suitcases,

Reflect on each one.

Let's look through your eyes open.

Reflect about the future,

How it will come on its own accord whenever it comes,

And that most of what we worry about will never happen.

As you continue to stand out there in the street,

Reflect about the past,

The other heavy suitcase.

Consider how the past cannot be changed.

All we can do in the present is to learn from it.

Put in whatever corrections make sense.

Become a more skillful person.

Become a better person and move on.

Standing there in the street,

Feeling the weight of these two suitcases,

And absorbing the wisdom of your own reflections right now.

Make a conscious decision.

Do you want to drop the suitcase of worry about the future?

And if so,

Simply drop it.

Just let it go.

Then,

Standing there in the street,

With the other suitcase so heavy about the past,

Make a conscious decision.

Do you want to drop it?

And if so,

Just drop it.

Just let it go.

As soon as you have dropped the two suitcases,

Walk back into your home and take a seat exactly where you are right now.

And as you relax into your chair,

Take three deep breaths,

Feeling the burden of the past and the future.

No longer rest on your shoulders.

Now I invite you to take three deep breaths in,

Once again in through your nostrils and out from your mouth.

As you relax,

Feel the burden of the past and the future.

As you relax in the present moment,

Rest in the fundamental well-being of awareness itself.

Awareness,

Which does not worry or regret.

Feeling yourself to feel a sense of peace,

Of joy,

Of well-being.

A natural happiness,

Always your true home.

Without carrying heavy suitcases,

Of worries about the future,

Or full of regrets about the past.

Relax into your breath and remember,

Whenever you find that your mind wanders,

Gently bring it back to the anchor,

Which is your breath,

Which will allow you to embrace the present moment.

Without judgment and without any criticism,

Always use the breath to bring you back to that sense of peace,

Joy and well-being.

Namaste.
