Welcome to this Ayurvedic inspired meditation.
Ayurveda is a holistic practice designed to balance the mind,
The body,
And the spirit and we do this by aligning with your own unique doshas.
So the three doshas are vata,
Pitta,
And kapha and today we're going to be exploring the pitta dosha.
Individuals who have a lot of pitta,
So have a lot of fire and water in them,
This part of them governs metabolism,
Digestion,
And the intellect.
People with this dosha have a medium build in terms of body structure.
They have high energy and are sharp in intellect.
The imbalance or having too much pitta results in anger,
Impatience,
And skin issues.
So today our pitta meditation is going to focus on surrendering,
On inviting compassion,
On inviting stillness and ease into the body at the moment.
With this being said,
I'll invite you to find a comfortable seated position,
Sitting on a chair or on the floor.
And if it feels okay for you,
You can close the eyes or lower the gaze.
Before we start,
Just notice what's happening in the body right now.
Any areas of tension or tightness,
Can we bring the awareness and the attention to these parts of the body?
Allow the body to let go into the support beneath you.
Breathing into the heart space,
Breathing into the sides of the ribs,
The back of the body.
Expanding and lengthening the breath.
Letting go of the tension that may be stored anywhere in the body.
Allowing the shoulders to ease any weight that might be landing on it.
Allowing the facial muscles to soften,
The temples,
The eyebrows.
Let the jaw unclench,
The fingertips unravel,
The hips be relaxed,
And the lower body at ease.
Notice if the whole body feels light.
Can we deepen the sensation of lightness with the pace of your breath?
And whatever is happening right now,
Whether it's in the body,
Whether it's the breath,
Whether it's the mind,
See if you can just notice without judgment,
Without the need to fix.
Allowing yourself to surrender,
To let go,
To lean into ease and relaxation.
And really become aware of this state,
This feeling that's arising within you right now.
Sitting with it for a few more moments.
Whenever it feels right for you,
Gently wiggle the fingertips,
The toes.
You can sway side to side if it feels okay for you.
So,
Finding stillness,
Noticing the surroundings,
The body,
The breath,
The mind.
And at your own time,
When it feels ready and right,
Gently opening the eyes.
We have come to the end of the practice.
Thank you so much for practicing with me today.
