Welcome to this meditation for compassion and acceptance.
This is a practice for increasing compassion within ourselves.
It helps to remember that what we share as humans is universal,
Is connected in many ways.
And throughout our lives,
As we experience hardship,
Heartbreak,
Challenges and struggles,
It helps us to remember what we share as human beings.
I'll invite you to find a comfortable seat,
Allowing the sit bones to root into the surface beneath you,
Feeling grounded,
Feeling steady.
And then I'll invite you to take a couple rounds of breath,
Breathing in through the nose and a soft exhale out.
And as you breathe here,
Just notice the sensations within the body,
The sides of the ribcage expanding,
The sides of the ribcage falling,
The whole body softening,
Releasing tension,
Letting go of heaviness.
Now,
Begin by being aware of a person,
Any person that comes to mind,
Another human being just like you.
And as you imagine this person in your mind,
It can be someone who you have a good relationship with.
It could be someone who you have a challenging relationship with.
Either way,
Just notice,
Notice the person,
Take note of their relationship towards you.
And just see how you feel when you imagine this person.
And as you locate this person in your mind,
As you hold them within your headspace,
Keep in mind the following words.
And just notice what happens within your body as you listen.
This person has a body and a mind just like me.
This person has feelings,
Thoughts,
And emotions just like me.
This person has,
During his or her life,
Experienced physical and emotional pain and suffering just like me.
This person has,
At some point,
Been sad just like me.
This person has been disappointed in life just like me.
This person has sometimes been angry just like me.
This person has been hurt by others just like me.
This person has felt unworthy or inadequate at times just like me.
This person worries just like me.
This person is frightened sometimes just like me.
This person will one day die just like me.
This person has longed for friendship just like me.
This person is learning about life just like me.
This person wants to be caring and kind to others just like me.
This person wants to be content with what life has given just like me.
This person wishes to be free from pain and suffering just like me.
This person wishes to be happy just like me.
This person wishes to be safe,
Strong,
And healthy just like me.
This person wishes to be loved just like me.
Notice what is going through your body right now as you hear the words come through.
Notice that even though our life circumstances may be so different,
The lives we live on a daily basis are so unique.
At the core,
We experience so many of the same feelings,
Emotions,
Sensations,
Beliefs.
And when we start to see this within others,
We know that we're not alone.
Spending the last few moments tuning into whatever feelings are arising for you.
Noticing your breath pattern.
Noticing your body.
Now whenever you are ready,
You can start to bring movement into the fingertips and the toes.
When the time is right,
Slowly flicker open the eyes.
Tuning back into the space around you.
Thank you so much for joining me on this meditation and I wish you a great day ahead.
