You can close your eyes if you feel comfortable and invite a deep breath.
Letting the breath guide you inward and meeting the edge of your breath to smooth it out.
So try to follow the breath all the way into the lungs until you meet that gap and then exhale completely and slowly,
Becoming aware of the space you're in,
Feeling settled in your space.
And I know the first part of this is noticing there are thoughts popping in.
Don't reject them,
Let them come in,
But in the same way let them go away.
Coming back to the breath and letting the breath show you sensation.
Where do you most feel the breath?
Maybe your upper lip,
Maybe the chest,
Maybe it's the temperature of the air coming in or out.
But most importantly enjoy the breath and those sensations the breath is showing you.
If this becomes hard for you to feel,
You can place your hand on your chest and one hand on your stomach and you'll feel it more clearly.
And coming back to this sensation each time you get distracted by your mind.
Now scan the body for any tightness that you can find and begin to let go of that unnecessary tightness that you are holding on,
Feeling how the body knows where to let go once you pay attention to it.
Now sensing the entire state of your body.
How does it feel?
Without judgment,
How am I feeling today in my body?
And I'd like for you to bring to mind an element that is most natural to you today.
And the one that comes first is probably the one.
So what is the element that you feel most in tune with?
Is it earth?
Air?
Space?
Water?
Fire?
And without giving it too much thought just feel which one feels good to you.
And we're going to experience the quality of that element within.
And the way we feel this quality is by making an inquiry for yourself.
If I was water,
How would I feel right now?
If I was earth,
How would I feel as a mountain?
Grounded,
Like the tree,
Planted,
Steady,
Nourished.
So take the next few moments to make that inquiry for yourself.
If I was my element,
How would I feel right now?
Water could be felt as the movement and flow,
As a steady,
Fluid energy.
Earth could be as a mountain,
Steady,
Heavy,
Sure-footed.
Air could be as movement and change,
Easiness in movement.
Space could be as expansion.
Fire could be as passionate.
Feel how it feels for you.
We all possess all the elements in our bodies because we are nature.
And we have them all within us.
There may be one or two that you feel more connected to in your essence.
So trust that and stay with that for a couple more moments.
If you get distracted by the mind throwing information at you,
Come back to the sensation of your element and trust that connection.
Because it's there,
It's here,
And it's yours.
I invite you now to see yourself,
How it would stay with you for the rest of the day.
How would you integrate it with the same being that's going to talk,
That's going to connect with others,
That's going to think?
How would you integrate this in this version of you today?
Because as you do this,
You may notice that the deepest parts of you come to the surface when you connect with the element that you are most in line with.
You can begin to deepen your breath now.
Bringing some movement into the body,
Maybe a movement that reflects your element.
That doesn't need to look in any particular way.
It's just for you to feel it and express it just with the first movements that you make after your quiet time today.
Feel it,
Express it.
And take this with you in your actions,
In your words,
In your thoughts,
In your feelings today.
You can open your eyes.
