So much of our time and our lives is involved in trying to control things around us and within us. We want things to be just so, just the way we like, and we expend a great deal of energy in trying to manipulate and shape things to our liking. At best, this leads to frustration. At worst, it can lead to much suffering. In this practice, we will notice whatever arises and see if we might accept it, regardless of whether it is something we think of as good or bad. It is different from many meditations where we would choose to advance an object of attention. In this practice, we allow anything to arise and practice noticing and being with it, whatever it may be.
