Thank you for joining me for this guided meditation for calmness.
This is a relatively short practice that includes some mindfulness meditation and a visualization of a beautiful lake.
By the end of this practice,
Hopefully you can find some calmness,
Inner stillness and peace.
Begin by finding a comfortable place to sit.
Or you can lie down if you prefer.
You can close your eyes or you can lower and soften them.
Let your body relax and sink into the chair,
The floor or the bed.
For the next few minutes,
There is nothing that you have to do and nowhere that you have to be except here with yourself.
This is a special time to find some inner peace and calm.
As you sit here,
Allow your breath to flow naturally.
You don't need to make any effort.
Really notice the flow and rhythm of your breath.
Experience the rise and fall of your breath in your body.
I wonder if you have experienced any challenges today.
Perhaps there is something that has taken you off balance.
Maybe a conversation that caused you to feel some hurt or anger or a thought or feeling that made you feel anxious or upset.
Or perhaps there is nothing in particular that affected you this way,
But there are times in the day or even now when you might feel a little onage.
Sometimes we can feel this way without knowing exactly why or what's caused it.
Can you imagine now the image of a beautiful lake?
It can be any size,
Shape,
Colour or depth that you'd like it to be.
Sometimes a lake can be disturbed by wind,
Rain or waves.
And other times it can be calm and quiet,
Reflecting the trees and the flowers around it.
Your mind is just like this lake.
It's always changing.
It has moments when it's disturbed by things outside of you and moments when it can be very calm and quiet.
Even when your lake is choppy and disturbed at the surface.
Below the surface there's a wonderful stillness.
A quiet place where there is peace and calm.
A place to stop and rest for a while.
Allow yourself to connect with that peaceful energy now.
Becoming one with the lake.
Accepting all of the challenges at the surface.
And finding peace and quiet in the depths of your being.
If you find that you're distracted by thoughts,
Just notice where your mind has gone.
Come back to the soothing rhythm of your breath.
And connect again with the image and the feeling of this beautiful lake.
Allow yourself to enjoy this experience.
The gentle movement of the lake.
Finding calmness and stillness.
Feeling inner peace.
And being realized.
