Dear friends,
The everyday miracle has been repeated,
A new day has dawned and you are here to witness it.
Welcome to this reflection intended to get you to a good start each day.
Let's begin our meditation by finding a quiet space where you are less likely to be disturbed.
Make yourself comfortable and take a few seconds to bring yourself into an awareness of this present moment.
What a wonderful thing it is to be here,
Experiencing the gift of this new day.
Let's give ourselves one minute,
Just 60 seconds,
To enter into this space of relaxation.
Welcome back.
Life may sometimes appear to us to be routine.
We get up and we go about our business in a state of busyness.
The schedule may vary at weekends,
And holidays can be a little different,
Even though sometimes one holiday agenda can be the same as the next.
But when you stop to think of it,
One day is never the very same as another.
Tomorrow when it comes will be different from every single yesterday.
Each day presents us with a new set of circumstances,
But the uniqueness of each day will not be evident to us unless we make time to pause,
To stop and be still.
The people we meet may have certain characteristics that we attach to them,
But that doesn't mean that these people are operating in replay mode.
We must remember to treat each new encounter in a fresh way,
And that refreshing approach will be helped by a mindful stop.
In fact it will only be achieved by a mindful stop.
This mindful stopping at the beginning of the day will help put our minds in charge of events.
We know from experience when we do not take time to stop and reflect,
Our bodies go about their business on autopilot.
It's as if we are not in control of our actions.
So let's take another one minute pause now.
This time to help place our minds in charge,
We can ask ourselves what is it we would really like to concentrate on today?
What is the approach to life that we would like to put into effect today?
Welcome back again.
I am sure some plan has occurred to you during that last pause.
The particular approach you have decided upon for today is not so important as the fact that you have made some decision about your direction of travel.
I am sure you will have come across the saying,
If you do not know where you are going you will surely arrive somewhere else.
The same idea has been put in another way,
If you do not know where you are going any road will do.
The life of each of us is such an important gift that it is hard to imagine that we would set sail and let its possibilities drift by without putting our hands to the rudder.
Yet the fact is that under the pressure of life we can do just that.
I have done it and I am sure you have done it as well.
So the message of today's reflection is simply this.
Before setting out on the activities of the day,
Take a few moments to relax and to bring yourself into the present.
After an expression of thanks for the gift of this new day,
There is just one question to consider before the day begins.
How am I going to approach life today?
There are so many possibilities but having taken the time to pause and to stop,
Now the choice is yours.
The day is yours.
This wonderful new day is yours.
I will allow the music to run on for a little while so that if time permits you will have an opportunity to decide on the one principle that you will apply to your activities today.
May you be blessed in all you do.
Namaste
