Dear friends,
Thank you for stopping to take part in this short period of reflection.
Welcome to the never to be repeated point in time that is gifted to us just now,
This wonderful present moment.
So first of all,
Let us bring body and mind into alignment,
In the marvellous space which we call the Now.
For these few moments we leave the concerns of the past in an imaginary box marked yesterday,
And we place the concerns of the future in an imaginary envelope labelled Tomorrow,
As we take a few deep breaths and allow ourselves to simply be.
Today I want to introduce you,
Or reintroduce you,
To our wonderful universe,
This totality of all existence,
The remarkable field of energy in which we all live and move and have our very being.
We all encounter this miracle every morning,
But too often we don't,
Or at least I don't,
Really pay attention to our everyday surroundings.
The familiar,
Unveiling wonders round and about us can become as invisible to us as the air we breathe.
Masterpieces are on view,
But our eyes are heedless.
Symphonies of sound are playing to an oblivious audience.
So let us renew today our acquaintance with the neglected reality in which we exist.
The greeting we are going to use is very simple and very easily remembered,
Just these words.
Hello universe,
Here I am.
Now what will we get up to today?
Now we don't expect to hear a voice in reply that goes without saying,
And neither should we expect a eureka moment to arise,
Especially on the first day,
But let us make a habit of this.
Let's make friends with the cosmos each morning,
Starting today,
And see where this spirit of openness leads us.
So here goes.
First you will greet the universe by asking this question,
And then you will wait for a minute of totally relaxed being,
60 seconds to allow yourself to just be.
After all,
It's only the polite thing to do.
You ask a question,
So you must allow a pause for a reply.
So let's give this a try.
Let's start the conversation.
Repeat after me,
And then sit for 60 seconds in a spirit of openness and possibility.
Hello universe,
Here I am.
Now what will we get up to today?
Welcome back.
Thank you for trying this.
Resolve to make this short conversation a daily habit.
Be patient and open,
And I believe the prompt as to what you ought to do will come silently in its own time.
For the quiet promptings of the soul to be heard,
We need to be still,
And we need to listen.
So may all your days be blessed with moments of stillness,
And may you and the universe,
Of which you are an irreplaceable part,
Become daily companions,
Chatting to one another first thing,
And together bringing a little light to the world.
Namaste.
