Welcome to the Sleep Train Meditation for Kids.
Do you ever have trouble falling asleep or relaxing at bedtime?
It's kind of normal to sometimes have trouble relaxing and sleeping because our minds are so full.
Today you're going to join me on a meditation and visualization to calm our bodies and our minds and drift off to sleep.
So let's go on our ride on the Sleepy Train.
Before you get started,
I'd like you to grab your favorite stuffed animal or other soft toy.
And get comfortable with your blanket and pillow.
And I'll give you a few minutes to get these items if you need.
Or you can pause this meditation until you get them.
Okay,
That's awesome.
I think you picked a very cool item.
And just go ahead and lay down on your bed,
The floor or sofa.
And you're just going to place your stuffed animal or toy on your belly.
Get as comfortable as you can.
And at any time during this meditation,
If you need to reposition or change positions to get more comfortable,
Feel free to do so.
Take a deep breath.
And as you exhale,
I want you to quietly listen for the sound of the train.
It's coming.
Now take a deep breath and imagine that you're at the station as the train is pulling up.
The train is your favorite color.
And there's a few buildings standing behind it.
The sun is starting to set.
And you can see the grass and trees.
It's a very beautiful scene.
Take a slow deep breath.
And notice how as the sun is setting,
You can start to see the moon appear in the sky.
As the train is stopped,
You start to walk back several cars.
And as you get to a particular section,
You notice an open wagon.
You climb on that wagon with your toy.
And you find that it's filled with soft,
Comfortable pillows.
You can hear the train horn blowing and see the steam from the engine and the sound of a distant voice calling.
All aboard.
You lay down on the pillows with your toy and it's so comfortable.
You can feel the train beginning to take off.
And you know that as it moves through the night,
You're going to have a restful sleep.
Take a slow deep breath.
And let go of any parts of your body that feel tight.
And let yourself just sink in on those comfortable pillows.
Becoming more still,
More comfortable,
And more relaxed.
Take another slow deep breath and allow all of your thoughts to drift up with the steam from the train.
Now you feel the train gently starting to move.
And as it does,
You and your stuffed animal gently move a rock back and forth.
The vibrations of the train are strong,
But they also feel good,
Like you're being rocked to sleep.
They even have a relaxing sound.
And the train has reached a safe and steady speed,
Ready for your long journey tonight.
Take another slow deep breath and know that right now,
Everything is good.
The night sky is so beautiful,
And you can see the moon shining bright and it's full.
Take another deep breath and notice the bright stars in the sky,
Like they're sprinkled all over.
Notice the different shapes and how many there are.
Some are brighter than others,
Some are bigger,
And some are smaller,
But they're all beautiful.
The hum and the sound of the train is so soothing,
It's making you feel sleepy.
You and your stuffed animal are so comfortable,
And you both are drifting off to sleep.
Your eyes are staying closed now.
And as it's nighttime,
This is your time to get some rest so that you can enjoy tomorrow.
Now your brain is becoming slower and you're feeling sleepier.
You feel peaceful,
Comfortable,
Happy,
And safe.
The train is taking you along for a wonderful ride tonight and to a new and beautiful destination when you wake up tomorrow.
So enjoy this time and allow my voice to completely fade away just as the sleepy train rolls along in the night.
