Welcome to my meditation guide.
A lot of times people wonder,
Is meditation a Christian practice or not?
This guide is meant to explain what exactly is Christian meditation.
And how can you use it or how will it benefit you in your life?
While prayer is talking to God,
Meditation is listening to Him.
It's spending that time one on one with Him.
Meditation allows those things that we have been pushing down or away from us to float back up to the surface.
It allows us a space to face our fears,
Our mistakes,
Our trials,
Our sins,
Or any issues in a way that now God can answer.
It's seeking Him about these things in particular.
Meditation brings in an awareness of the spiritual aspects of this life.
It's how we can address the carnality that enters daily.
The more I meditate and concentrate on God,
The more I realize that I am not of this world,
I'm just in it.
There is so much fighting to make me kernel.
Meditation helps me remain spiritually aware and I'm able to remember that there is an enemy that seeks to kill,
Steal,
And destroy.
I can remember that all things are spiritual so that even my attacks can be seen as using my spiritual weapons rather than responding carnally.
Because without this regular meditation,
I'm likely to forget that the battle isn't mine.
I'm likely to respond to situations as my unsaved self,
Or simply give up and do whatever the enemy is leading me to do.
But what about our thoughts?
If we don't meditate,
We're not in control necessarily about what we're thinking about.
So part of my meditation practice is also meditating or thinking on good things like we're instructed in Philippians.
Rejoice always in the Lord.
And again I say rejoice.
Let your moderation be known unto all men.
The Lord is at hand.
Be careful for nothing,
But in everything by prayer and supplication.
With thanksgiving,
Let your requests be known unto God.
And the peace of God which passeth all understanding will keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Finally,
Brethren,
Whatsoever things are true,
Whatsoever things are honest,
Whatsoever things are just,
Whatsoever things are pure,
Whatsoever things are lovely,
Whatsoever things are of good report,
And if there be any virtue,
If there be any praise,
Think on these things.
Those things which you have both learned and received and heard and seen in me do.
And the God of peace shall be with you.
That's what we want as we meditate.
We want that God of peace to be with us.
And meditation helps to bring about that peace in our daily lives.
Meditation allows me to remember who I am and whose I am.
First Timothy 4 tells us to neglect not the gift that's within us.
To meditate upon these things.
To give thyself wholly to them,
That that profiting may appear to all.
To take heed unto ourselves,
And to the doctrine and continue in them,
In doing so that both we are saved and all those that hear us.
That's the goal in meditation.
Once we're peaceful,
Once we're thinking on the things that God has for us and we seek him first in all of these things,
Now we're able to minister,
To share,
And to be that influence for others.
But that can't happen unless we fill our own cup first.
I hope you join me in these next few meditations that we have for you.
And continue to pray and ask God,
How can you continue to implement this in your own life?
How can you meditate on him daily and learn of him?
Go in peace.
