I think one of the most healing aspects of practice is that you give yourself a time to digest what's going on within you.
We digest by becoming aware.
It allows for the whole body to release the excess tension,
The stress,
And go back to a state of harmony and balance.
The essential ingredient is you listen.
You listen to yourself.
As you listen,
You can self-regulate.
Recollect your energies that have been directed in different directions and bring them towards the center of awareness.
The thoughts are like waves that,
If we're not grounded,
Constantly take us out into the world.
The thoughts are like waves that,
If we're not grounded,
Constantly take us out of ourselves.
And yet,
There's always a moment when the mind goes back into itself.
There are moments where there are no waves or the waves are very subtle.
As you close your eyes and feel your body,
Can you sense the movement,
The physical movement,
The breath,
The heartbeat,
Then the emotional movement,
The desires,
The wants,
The fears,
The longings?
The mind goes where the heart is.
So as you exhale and you soften your body,
Notice the tensions.
Notice maybe your fingers.
Are they relaxed?
Are your hips heavy?
Are your legs relaxed?
Are your shoulders dropping?
Is your jaw soft,
Dropping?
Notice whatever is arising within and around you.
The sounds.
The present moment.
As you feel the present moment,
Do you identify with it or in your mind you see the present moment as something different from what you are?
The root of separation is that subtle distinction we make between the present moment and what we are.
We tend to think of ourselves as separate,
Different from what life is.
And yet we are nothing but life.
I am this.
I am existence.
Conscious existence.
Can you hold that feeling,
That understanding?
I am experience and that which is being experienced.
I am the observer but also what is being observed and even the act of observation is all happening within me.
How does your body respond to that understanding?
Does it relax?
Does it tighten?
Do you allow for that understanding to become body?
All this I am.
Awareness simply is.
Is the not,
Does not resist.
The not,
Does not seek.
Awareness simply is.
The mind resists.
The mind seeks.
The mind creates awareness.
It is.
