Often the most important aspect of a meditation practice is our capacity to release the false sense of control and trust a Greater Power. In this meditation we aim to embody an attitude of surrender, by softening and recognizing the power behind our own existence

Start with a meditation.

Get your sitting bones well grounded.

Make sure that your spine is fully elongated by allowing your sitting bones to get grounded,

Allowing your tailbone to move downward.

And think of the crown of the head moving upward.

Like if you're being pulled by a string on the crown of the head.

And there is spaciousness between the vertebrae.

Your hands rest on your thighs with the thumb and index finger touching,

Palms down.

And palms down,

There's this attitude of surrender.

Surrendering is letting go of resistance,

Not fighting.

So when we stop striving,

We surrender.

And in yoga,

You say you surrender to a greater power.

As you breathe in and breathe out,

You experience this power breathing you.

This power breathing you.

Even though we have control on our breath and the way we breathe,

Ultimately,

The breath is out of our control.

The breath is involuntary,

It just happens.

Same as with the heartbeat.

And even with thoughts.

So much happens within us.

Most of where we are happens involuntary.

All the systems of the body work.

It's all orchestrated by this greater intelligence of life.

So when we meditate,

We release control.

So when we meditate,

We release control and we align with this greater power.

So when you surrender,

You soften.

You release any action.

You release any action.

Feel that your legs and hips release more deep into the earth.

Your navel is soft,

Your belly is soft.

Feel the breath coming in and out.

And you witness the spontaneous movement of your ribcage muscles,

Diaphragm,

When you exhale,

You can feel the softening of the chest,

Shoulders relaxing,

The arms dropping heavy,

Your body,

Your body is just like a When you exhale,

You can feel the softening of the chest,

Shoulders relaxing,

The arms dropping heavy,

Your body dropping heavier into the ground.

But your spine expanding upward.

Your throat,

Your jaw is soft,

Your eyes are soft.

Your face melts.

Your eyes are soft.

Your face melts.

Surrender to the present moment.

Notice the noises.

Let them be.

Maybe the light coming through the window and touching your eyelids.

Let it be.

Thoughts coming and going,

Let them be.

Often we think that meditation is about control,

But it's not really.

Meditation is just simply being aware,

Being present with whatever is happening.

But it's also an openness to whatever is happening.

It's a deep sense of acceptance to life as it is,

And you as you are.

Whatever you're feeling,

You accept it fully.

You become curious when your inner movements notice what the mind does.

But you rest your awareness in simply being,

Being open,

Spaciousness awareness that welcomes everything,

Allows everything,

Feels everything.

You let life happen.

And as you do this,

As you surrender,

There is this well-being that arises all of its own.

It is your natural state of being.

There is no seeking.

There is no fixing.

Just being.

Surrender.

To just being.

There is a softening.

There is a release of control.

You can feel more deeply into yourself.

You become more aware.

Very naturally,

You see where you can let go more fully,

Areas where you might be holding tension,

Areas where you might be resisting.
