Welcome to a beautiful afternoon down on the south shore of Long Island.
Hearing the sounds,
The voices of people enjoying a summer day,
The waves crashing,
The seagulls,
And the love of summer.
Picturing that perfect summer afternoon.
What does it look like for you?
What does it sound like?
What does it look like?
What does it smell like?
What does it taste like?
What does it feel like?
Finding yourself in a comfortable position.
Either your legs crossed,
Maybe in half lotus.
Putting both feet on the ground.
Sitting up alert and present,
But not stressed.
Where can you soften your body?
Maybe on your face.
Maybe in your hands.
Deciding if today you'd like to open your eyes,
Keep a soft gaze in front of you.
Or closing your eyes.
Knowing at any moment you can open those eyes.
If they're closed or close your eyes.
If they're open.
Noticing where your breath is.
Do you feel it most in your nostrils?
In your mouth?
In your chest?
Or in your abdomen?
Making a conscious effort to elongate your inhales and your exhales.
Counting your inhale.
How many seconds was it?
Counting your exhale.
How many seconds was it?
And if it's comfortable,
Elongating those breaths.
If it was three seconds,
Inhale.
Trying to do four.
Four seconds,
Exhale,
Trying to do five.
And just take three conscious breaths with me at your own pace.
Inhaling.
Exhaling.
Inhaling.
Exhaling.
Inhaling.
Exhaling.
Going back to that perfect summer day.
Knowing you can be there even if you're not at that perfect day anytime you need to reset.
Or regroup.
Or refocus.
Before you lift your eyes.
Or open them.
Think of someone.
Something.
Or someplace you're truly grateful for.
Open that up.
Hope you enjoy that endless summer afternoon.
Be well.
