Good morning,
This is Theresa Ann.
This morning I had the privilege of waking up and seeing the sunrise on the Atlantic Ocean on the Carolina coast.
I'm here on vacation and today as I was walking I thought what a beautiful place to share with others.
Right now I'm sitting on the sand.
To my left is the sun rising,
To my right is the moon in the sky,
Feeling balanced and wanting to take a pause.
So I invite you to find a comfortable position,
Whatever that may mean to you.
Perhaps sitting with your legs crossed,
Laying down,
Maybe on a chair with your hands in your lap,
Deciding if you want to have a soft gaze in front of you or closing your eyes.
Knowing you can open your eyes at any point if they're closed and if they are having a soft gaze and feeling comfortable,
You can close them.
Thinking about your posture,
Sitting alert but not stressed,
Bringing those shoulders up back and around,
Noticing your breath,
Feeling in the body where you notice the breath the most.
Maybe in the nose,
The mouth,
The chest or the abdomen,
Not worrying about where you're taking the breath.
Your body does know how to breathe and just inviting the exhales to be a little bit longer.
Counting the exhales,
If the length of the exhale is four seconds perhaps inviting it to be five,
If it's five seconds perhaps maybe inviting it to be six.
Noticing the sounds of the ocean in the background,
Knowing your mind will wander and as your mind wanders,
Inviting it back to the breath and the sounds of the waves.
We'll take ten deep breaths together.
I will guide you with the inhales and the exhales.
If the breath is too long,
You can shorten them and if they're too short,
You can lengthen them.
And we'll begin.
Inhale.
Exhale.
Inhale.
Exhale.
Inhale.
Exhale.
Inhale.
Inhale.
Exhale.
Exhale.
Inhale.
And exhale.
Now allowing the breath to be natural.
As I sit here on the shore,
Feeling the warmth of the sun,
Noticing the emotions that perhaps we all have and allowing to surrender to the emotion.
Think of each motion as the waves are crashing,
Knowing they're temporary,
Perhaps they're good and you're catching that wave and feeling it so much and loving it and being grateful for it.
Or perhaps it's that wave that's crashing and being uncomfortable,
But knowing that too will pass.
And before you open your eyes,
Lift your gaze,
Thinking of someone,
Something,
Someplace you're truly grateful for.
Opening your eyes and welcome to the part of the day that you're at.
Thank you for joining me.
Wishing you all the best.
