The days before surgery or a medical procedure can bring physical discomfort and emotional uncertainty. This meditation is inspired by practices that supported me before a hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy. While not specific to any procedure, it offers gentle breathwork and guided imagery focused on all that will go right within you. Sending wishes for comfort, strength, and healing.

Hello,

Welcome.

I'm Teresa Ann,

And I'm inviting you to take a moment prior to perhaps a surgery,

A medical procedure,

Or something that's just challenging for you overall with your health.

I noticed prior to my surgery,

I was in search of something that was specific to the feelings I was feeling,

And I'm hoping this will help you along.

The days prior to leading up to my procedure,

I recognized that really self-care was important.

So perhaps that looks like for you,

Maybe a medical massage,

Acupuncture,

Healthy or light meals leading up,

Preparing your home with your favorite comfortable clothing or perhaps a blanket,

Ensuring there are wonderful smelling fragrances in your home,

Whether that be a candle or incense or essential oils,

All things that when you return that you will be welcomed to.

Obviously,

Just an individual who went through the procedure,

Not a health care provider.

I also went to the local library picking out a few books so I would have some company when I returned.

In the evening before,

I began reading one of the books,

So I would be excited when I got home to keep reading it.

Prior to the procedure,

Really focusing on the part of the body that maybe was causing some kind of discomfort,

Illness,

Disease,

Maybe you're saying goodbye to that part of the body or maybe that part of the body needed healing,

And knowing that whether it be the surgery or procedure,

That it is time and it is ready and it is necessary for the body to go through a change,

And recognizing that you want to thank yourself for the journey and thank the team of supporters,

Whether that is your family,

Your friends,

An online support system,

And then thanking those in the medical field that will be there providing you with your healing.

Perhaps it's a surgeon or a doctor,

The nurse team,

And know in your heart that it will be okay,

And finding a comfortable position,

Whatever that might mean to you,

Perhaps sitting in a chair with both feet on the ground,

Or sitting in a cross-legged position,

Perhaps it's in a recliner chair,

Or laying in bed,

And seeing what's comfortable for you.

Perhaps it's closing your eyes,

Knowing at any point you can open them,

Or leaving your eyes open but having a soft gaze in front of you,

And taking your hands and perhaps placing it on the part of the body that needs the healing where you're saying goodbye to,

Or if you prefer,

Placing your hands over your heart,

Sending extra love and care for your healing that will be taking place,

And taking a moment to visualize all the things that are going to go right with you,

Imagining you entering the facility,

Being insured all will be okay,

And waking up or going through the procedure and getting all good news,

Visualizing you returning home,

With the home prepared the way as you left it,

And beginning your healing process.

With these good intentions going in your mind,

I'm going to invite you to take three anchor breaths with me,

And then ten breaths on your own.

I'll invite you back for three breaths with me,

And leave you with a couple words of encouragement.

So again,

Relaxed,

Not stressed,

Closing the eyes or a soft gaze in front of you,

Taking a breath in,

Two,

Three,

Four,

Exhale,

Two,

Three,

Four.

Inhale,

Two,

Three,

Four,

Exhale,

Inhale,

Exhale,

Taking those ten breaths on your own,

And as your mind wanders,

Inviting it back to focus on all that will go correct and right for you.

Inhale,

Two,

Three,

Four,

Exhale,

Two,

Before you open your eyes or lift your gaze,

Accepting this time of transformation,

And focusing on the words that follow.

She had no idea,

But she will shift from survival to overflow,

From worry to blessing,

From stress to grace,

And from doubt to divine alignment.

She is you.

I'm talking about you.

Opening your eyes or lifting your gaze,

Perhaps going off to sleep or spending some time,

Focusing on all the things that will go right for you.

I'm happy I am home healing now,

Feeling much better after my procedure of a radical hysterectomy,

And hoping you'll connect with me as I go through the journey of healing throughout the weeks to guide you through.

Safe,

Happy healing to you.

Amen.

Thank you for this. I will be having my hysterectomy next week and I am trying to not let fear overwhelm me. I find your words reassuring and I will listen to your series of healing tracks. Blessings ❤️
