Welcome to Journaling for Christmas Eve.
This meditative journaling session is an opportunity to reflect on Christmas Eve and the meaning of this day for you.
You can work with these journal prompts on Christmas Eve or in the days leading up to it.
I have four journal prompts for you,
And to help you free write what is truly top of mind,
I will be giving you just two minutes with each question.
When 30 seconds remain,
I will cue you to wrap up your thoughts.
Of course,
If you'd like to spend more time with any of the questions,
You can feel free to pause me or return to them again later.
You do not have to have a fancy journal for this practice,
And you don't have to write in complete sentences.
Use whatever is available to you today to write,
Even if it's just a slip of paper or the Notes app on your phone.
You can write just a few words in response,
You could doodle or draw,
Or if nothing comes to mind,
Simply sit and meditate on the questions.
If anything comes through that you do want to write down,
Then feel free to do so.
Go ahead and grab any materials you'd like to use for journaling,
And find yourself a comfortable position to write in.
Bring over any props that might help you feel nice and cozy,
Such as blankets or pillows.
Let's take a couple breaths together before we get started to get ourselves to a more balanced and calm state before we write.
Feel free to close your eyes while we breathe,
Or find an unmoving point to gaze upon.
Begin by releasing any breath that you are holding,
And breathe in,
Exhale,
Open mouth,
Sigh it out.
Inhale,
Exhale,
Sigh it out.
Take a few more breaths,
In and out of your nose,
At your own pace.
If your eyes were closed,
Gently blink them back open,
And bring your focus now to journaling.
Let's begin with our first prompt.
What are my favorite traditions to participate in with family or friends on Christmas Eve?
Or what traditions would I like to participate in and build in the future?
And again,
What are my favorite traditions to participate in with family or friends on Christmas Eve?
Or what traditions would I like to participate in and build in the future?
Begin to wrap up your thoughts.
Second,
What,
To me,
Is the spiritual significance of Christmas Eve?
What would I like to do on this day to honor this significance?
Again,
What,
To me,
Is the spiritual significance of Christmas Eve?
What would I like to do on this day to honor this significance?
Let your final thoughts flow onto the page.
Third,
What can I do to serve and support others on Christmas Eve?
Again,
What can I do to serve and support others on Christmas Eve?
Capture your final thoughts.
And finally,
What can I do to serve and support myself on Christmas Eve?
Again,
What can I do to serve and support myself on Christmas Eve?
Let your final thoughts flow onto the page.
If you feel complete,
You can go ahead and set your journaling materials aside.
If you'd like to keep going,
Please feel free to do so.
Let's take a final breath together.
By releasing any breath that you are holding,
Inhale,
Exhale,
Sigh it out.
I hope that these journal prompts helped you reflect on the importance of this day for you.
With much love and gratitude,
I close our journaling session.
May we journal together again soon.
Thank you so much.
