Welcome to your morning gratitude journaling practice.
These prompts can be used every day to help you start off your morning with gratitude.
We will begin with a short meditation to help you center yourself and prepare for journaling.
Have your journaling materials nearby,
And find a comfortable position for yourself today.
Here we will breathe and visualize opening the gift of a new day.
You are welcome to close your eyes as we breathe together,
Or find a fixed point ahead of you to gaze upon.
Go ahead and release any breath that you are holding,
And take a deep breath in,
Exhale open mouth,
Sigh it out.
Inhale welcome in love and gratitude.
Exhale release any resistance and feelings of doubt or not enoughness.
Inhale the expansiveness of gratitude.
Exhale resistance.
Continue to breathe in and out of your nose at your own rhythm and pace.
I invite you to picture a wrapped gift box sitting in front of you.
The wrapping of this box can look however you'd like for it to look today.
It could be any color,
And have any embellishments that you enjoy such as ribbons or bows.
Whatever speaks to you in this moment.
This gift represents the gift that is each new day we spend here on this earth.
Imagine now that this gift is slowly being opened.
The box opens to reveal a beautiful ball of light.
Again this can be any color that resonates with you.
Watch as it is revealed,
Its rays of light shining outward and encircling you with love and gratitude.
Welcome the gift of a new day.
Begin to step back from this image now,
But continue holding that light within you as you prepare to journal.
If your eyes are closed,
Gently blink them a few times to adjust back to the space around you and reach for your journaling materials.
We have three journal prompts,
And I will read each of them for you twice.
I will give you about one minute to journal between each one.
Of course if you'd like to journal for longer,
You can pause me or return to the questions again later.
Get as comfortable and cozy as you'd like,
And let's start with our first prompt.
First,
In this present moment,
Without looking ahead to the day or looking behind to yesterday,
What do I feel grateful for right now?
This could be as simple as the feeling of a blanket on your skin,
A warm cup of tea or coffee,
Or a sip of water.
Again,
In this present moment,
Without looking ahead to the day or looking behind to yesterday,
What do I feel grateful for right now?
This could be as simple as the feeling of a blanket on your skin,
A warm cup of tea or coffee,
Or a sip of water.
Second,
What is one small thing I can do today that will bring me and or others joy,
And that I can be grateful for in the moment?
Again,
What is one small thing I can do today that will bring me and or others joy,
And that I can be grateful for in the moment?
And finally,
Where do I feel called to express my gratitude today,
And how can I best express or share it?
Again,
Where do I feel called to express my gratitude today,
And how can I best express or share it?
If you feel complete,
You can go ahead and step back from your journal now.
If you are in a flow and would like to keep going,
Please feel free to do so and pause me,
Or you can revisit these prompts again later.
With much love and gratitude,
I close our practice today.
