This is a special meditation for your young kids to pause, connect with their breath and visualize a scene where baby T Rex slowly comes out of his egg and curls up for a nap on their lap. We walk through some simple breathing techniques and visualization. This one is great between transitions, for anxiety relief and for before bed. It reminds our little ones of their innate kindness and loving nature. Enjoy!

Today we are going to do a fun meditation called baby T-Rex.

So the first thing you need to do is find a special spot.

So you could sit with your legs crossed and your back straight up tall or you could choose to lie down completely on your bed or on the floor.

It's up to you.

You choose.

Once you are in your special spot it's time to now gently,

Gently close your eyes and start breathing.

Put your both hands on top of your belly and notice that when you take a breath in through your nose your belly rises and when you breathe out through your nose your body goes in.

So breathing in noticing your belly rising and breathing out noticing your belly going in.

For this meditation your job is to stay very still and very quiet.

Now that you're still and quiet I want you to imagine in your mind that you're holding a big beautiful dinosaur egg and without saying anything I want you to think about what color is it?

How large is it?

Is it heavy or is it light to hold?

Is it smooth to touch or is it rough and bumpy?

Without saying a word and keeping your eyes closed think about what it feels like to hold your dinosaur egg.

And when you're ready I want you to imagine yourself putting the dinosaur egg on a really soft patch of grass in a nice safe place under a big beautiful tree.

And once it's under that tree I want you to look at your dinosaur egg and notice a sound that it makes.

A little crackling sound and you can see that the dinosaur egg is moving and all of a sudden you see a little tiny baby claw come out of the dinosaur egg and move around and then the claw goes back inside the egg.

Next you see a teeny tiny curious little head come out of the dinosaur egg and look around.

It's a baby T-Rex.

Just watching quietly in your mind the baby T-Rex looks around and is exploring the world outside of its egg.

In your mind you notice that baby T-Rex can see you.

He spots you and he very gently pulls his body out of the egg and quietly quietly creeps towards you.

And all of a sudden if you stay very very still baby T-Rex comes to sit in your lap.

So keep breathing,

Keep your hands on your tummy and in your mind imagine baby T-Rex finding a little safe snuggly place on your lap.

And you can see that baby T-Rex curls up and goes to sleep on your lap.

Staying very still notice how baby T-Rex feels so safe on your lap and so loved.

Taking a deep breath in I want you to just thank yourself for being so kind to baby T-Rex and giving baby T-Rex a safe loving gentle area for him to have his little nap.

His first time in the big world.

You are so kind to baby T-Rex.

Taking another deep breath in and still saying very very still letting baby T-Rex finish his nap.

When you feel ready you can gently open up your eyes.

Now we are finished our meditation and you might feel like taking a big stretch or shaking out your body.

And as you go on to the next part of your day try to keep with you that feeling of how good it felt to be so kind to baby T-Rex.

We'll see you again for the next meditation.

I didn’t know what to expect by this title. What I found was a lovely brief meditation and visualization that completely captivated me and stopped me from being fixated in my own brain with my own distractions. A nice respite!
