Hello friends,

This meditation invites you to release the day you've just lived,

To let go with a sense of gratitude and ease,

And to transition to sleep with a sense of deep relaxation.

So lie down comfortably,

It might help to start out on your back with your body aligned and your heart area open,

But any position that feels good for you is fine.

Take a few deep sighing breaths and gently let go of any tension or concerns you may be carrying from this day,

Taking full inhalations and long slow gliding exhalations.

Imagine that each breath is cleansing and purifying your whole body for sleep.

Now gently call to mind any moment from this day for which you feel grateful.

It can be something small and simple,

The sun on your face,

A stranger's smile,

It could be the comfort of your bed right now.

Whatever it is,

Bring the moment vividly into your mind,

Into your heart,

Letting your heart glow with the warmth of gratitude,

Letting the golden light of gratitude guard your beautiful heart as you sleep,

And then letting go of the memory,

But allowing the warmth of the gratitude to continue,

Letting it soak your heart,

Letting that feeling continue without the narrative attached to it.

And now calling to mind a second moment for which you are grateful,

It could be a significant moment from your day or something very random,

The color of a leaf against the sky.

And again,

Letting go of the memory,

But letting the warmth of the gratitude soak through your body like golden light.

And finally calling to mind one more moment from this day for which you feel grateful.

It could even have been a difficult moment that you got through or learned from.

It could be the simple comfort of arriving home or the pleasure of a cup of tea.

Whatever it is,

Allowing yourself to feel deeply gratitude for that moment,

Thanking this day for its gifts,

And then letting all of these moments go,

Letting your breath become slow and gentle and relaxed.

Letting your breath cleanse and purify your whole body for sleep.

Letting this golden light that you've cultivated guard your heart as you sleep,

As if you sleep within a liquid gold radiant globe,

A circle of light and warmth and protection.

Allowing your body to settle into stillness,

Soaking in gratitude,

Resting in stillness.

And as you release yourself into sleep,

Setting an intention for this night.

Tonight my sleep will be deep and restorative.

Tonight my dreams will be healing.

Tonight my mind and my body will rest deeply in a state of connection and love.

Letting the movement of your breath spread through your body like waves rocking you to sleep back and forth,

Deeper and deeper with each loving exhalation,

Trusting your breath to carry you.

Letting the gratitude in your heart deliver you into deep restorative sleep.

Sleep well,

My friend.

Truly, one of the most nurturing bedtime meditations here on IT. All that was missing for me was my mother rubbing my back like when I was a child. 😌 Thank you.
