Of all of the different tools for personal transformation that I have trained in and used over the years,
This one is really one of my favorites.
You'll see it shows up as meditations on my profile,
As well as in pretty much every course I teach,
As well as on the lives that I do.
And the reason is I found it just one of the quickest ways to help to regulate our nervous systems,
Shift our thinking around something that's causing us suffering,
And enter into a more expansive state of consciousness where the body can settle,
The mind can feel at peace,
And the emotional energy that has been stuck can move through.
So let's start by just reviewing the tapping points themselves.
And then we'll go through a tapping sequence for overwhelm,
Which I think is something that many of us can relate to at the moment.
So the first tapping point is called the karate chop point.
And here you tap with your dominant hand on your other hand.
So I'm right-handed.
I tap with my right fingers on this side of the hand.
And this is where we do what's called the setup statement.
We'll come to that in a moment.
The next tapping point is the eyebrow point.
And here you feel where your eyebrow begins.
With two fingers,
You tap here quite lightly,
Just a few times.
And we'll be repeating phrases as we do this.
The next point is side of the eye,
Just sort of on that,
The bone of the orbit of the eye.
Then under the eye.
Next is under the nose.
Then the chin.
And the chin point is not really on the chin.
It's kind of in the indentation below your lower lip.
And next we have the collarbone point.
And here,
If you feel where your collarbone is,
You go just beneath it.
And with all of your fingers,
You tap.
And I,
For some reason,
Have started to integrate both hands tapping here.
Some people tap with both hands all the way through.
I find it a little bit trickier on the face.
But here,
I love to do it.
And the reason is that this point is particularly good for calming the nervous system.
And in fact,
If you ever feel kind of triggered or stressed,
If you just breathe and tap here,
Just go straight to this point,
You'll find very quickly that relief comes.
The next point is under the arm.
And here,
If you put your hand in your armpit and then go about a hand's width down and with all of your fingers,
Tap on what might be the seam of your shirt.
Then the final point is the top of the head.
And here we make a kind of a little claw with our fingertips.
We just tap around in a circle.
And then when we reach the end of one round of tapping,
We take a deep breath.
And this just helps to clear the energy system,
To move energy through.
So what I'd like to do next is to go through a tapping sequence.
And I'll show you the particular way that I use tapping.
It's sort of evolved over the years.
You might find it different to how you've learned it or how you've seen other people do it.
But it's kind of my secret.
It's my signature way of doing it.
And I think it's a really good way to fast track things.
So we start on the karate chop point.
And whatever situation you're working on,
Whether you're working on physical pain in a part of the body,
Whether you're working on emotional overwhelm,
Which is what we're going to do,
Or anything else,
You rate yourself on a scale of zero to 10 with the intensity of it.
So in this moment,
I might say on a scale of zero to 10,
I am,
Let's say a seven out of 10 in feeling the overwhelm.
And this is just a good idea because it allows you to refer back at the end of the round of tapping and see if your number has shifted.
So we go to the karate chop point and we say something like,
And I'll keep it simple for this video,
Even though I'm feeling overwhelmed.
And then we pair it with an affirmation statement that says something like,
I choose to deeply and completely love and accept myself.
This is powerful for healing on many,
Many different levels.
Then on the second setup,
For me,
I go like this,
Usually.
I say,
Even though I'm feeling overwhelmed,
And then I say,
I forgive myself and I'd like to forgive anything else that's contributing to my overwhelm.
Again,
Forgiveness is so powerful.
When we weave that into the setup statement,
We just move things along very quickly.
And then on the final setup statement,
What I like to say is something like,
Even though I'm feeling overwhelmed,
Here I like to plant the seed for where we're moving towards.
And so I might say,
I'd like to feel calm and centered.
Then oftentimes I'll take a deep breath,
Release it,
And then I start at the eyebrow point and I'll say,
This feeling of overwhelm.
And then it's good to ask yourself where in your body you feel it.
So it might be that you feel it in your solar plexus.
So you might say,
This overwhelm in my solar plexus.
And then you can simply repeat that.
You just say,
This feeling of overwhelm this overwhelm I'm feeling.
Or you can explain it a bit more.
So you might say something like,
Current events I'm finding really triggering.
You might say,
This situation with,
Fill in the blank,
Maybe at work,
Maybe with a loved one,
Is feeling so triggering,
Right?
You start to kind of complain about it.
You start to talk about what's behind it for you.
Then we go to the collarbone point.
We might say,
I feel so triggered,
So anxious,
So overwhelmed.
And again,
It's good to take some nice deep breaths as you tap,
Because that just helps to move and clear the energy through the system,
Like unblocking those energy blocks.
And then we stay on that,
On the subject.
So a short phrase that reminds us of it,
Which might be,
Feeling so overwhelmed in this moment.
And sometimes I like to add,
And I have every right to feel this way.
And then on the top of the head,
I like to add again that affirmation statement.
So you might say something like,
I choose to deeply love and accept myself anyway.
And then you take a deep breath.
And very often on my lives,
I'll have people at that moment,
Close their eyes and just really tune in and listen to the energetic experience in the body after tapping.
And you often find that you might feel tingly.
Sometimes people yawn.
Sometimes there's a feeling of relaxation,
A feeling of lightness.
And then you can ask yourself on that scale of zero to 10,
What number am I feeling now?
And just notice if that number is a number that numbers come down.
Oftentimes it'll take a few rounds to come down to a zero,
But you just can tell it like it is for you.
Just keep repeating statements as you tap that just really allow you to vent around the situation that's causing you suffering or emotional upset as you move through those points.
Ah,
So I invite you to try some of my tapping meditations on the app.
There's ones for abundance,
For anti-anxiety,
Ones to help you sleep better.
And also,
As I said,
They appear in my courses,
The Quit Your Day Job,
The Streaming From Source course,
And the Virtual Plant Medicine Retreat course.
All of them have a little tapping thrown in.
So enjoy,
And I look forward to seeing you soon on Alive.
Much love.
