If you have ever told yourself that you would meditate if you just had more time,
This one is for you.
Because here is the truth.
You don't need more time.
You need a different relationship with the time you already have.
And this meditation is going to prove that to you in the next few minutes.
You can do this lying in bed before you get up.
You can do it sitting at the kitchen table with your first cup of tea or coffee.
You can do it anywhere.
You just need right now.
So wherever you are,
Just pause.
Just for a moment.
Let everything else wait,
It will.
And bring your attention here.
Take one slow breath in through your nose.
And a long,
Slow breath out through your mouth.
Just that,
Just one breath.
And notice you just meditated.
That was it.
That counted.
Now let's build on it.
Let your eyes close gently or if you are already up and moving,
Just soften your gaze downward and bring your attention to this moment,
The very beginning of your day.
Before the emails,
Before the to-do list,
Before anyone needs anything from you,
This moment right here belongs entirely to you.
And I want to ask you one question.
I want you to let the answer arise naturally,
Without thinking too hard,
Without editing it,
Just noticing what comes.
What is the one word that describes how you want to feel today?
Not what you think you should feel.
Not what would be practical or responsible or impressive,
Just how do you genuinely want to feel as you move through this day.
Perhaps it is calm.
Perhaps it is energised.
Perhaps it is focused or open or connected or joyful or simply OK.
Whatever arises,
Just let it be there.
Let it be real.
Let it be yours.
And now,
Take a slow breath in.
And as you breathe in,
Imagine breathing in that feeling.
Breathing it into your chest,
Your belly.
Your whole body.
As if the feeling is available right now.
Not something you have to earn or wait for or work toward.
But something you can choose and inhabit right here,
In this breath,
At the very beginning of this day.
Breathe in your word,
Your feeling,
Your intention for the day.
And breathe out anything from yesterday that doesn't need to come with you today.
Any residue,
Any heaviness.
Any worry that belongs to another day and not this one.
Just breathe it out,
Let it go.
One more time,
Breathe in your intention for today.
Let it fill you completely.
Say the word to yourself and really feel it.
And breathe out,
Making room,
Making space.
Starting clean.
And now,
Before you move into your day,
Just set one intention.
Not a to-do list,
Not a goal.
Just one simple human intention for how you want to show up today.
Perhaps I will be patient with myself and others.
Or I will notice the good things as they happen.
Or I will take one thing at a time.
Or simply,
I will be kind to myself today.
Just one,
Hold it for a moment.
Feel it settle into you like something solid and real and entirely yours.
Take one final slow breath in.
Breathing in your feeling,
Your intention,
The quiet promise of this new day,
And a long slow breath out,
Releasing,
Letting go,
Making space for everything this day has to offer.
When you are ready,
Gently open your eyes and move into your day,
Carrying that intention with you like a quiet compass,
Returning to it whenever the day gets loud or complicated or hard.
Just one breath.
Just one word,
Just one intention,
And you are back.
You just meditated in just a few minutes without a cushion,
Without a special room,
Without any more time than you already had.
This is all it takes.
Not perfection,
Just presence.
Not an hour,
Just a breath and an intention.
And you can do this every single morning.
Carry that intention with you as you begin your day and know that you have already done something wonderful for yourself this morning.
