Welcome,
This is your time to slow down,
To release the day and to prepare for deep rest.
All that matters now is giving yourself permission to pause.
As you listen,
Know that there's nothing else you need to do.
Everything can wait until tomorrow.
Right now is only for you.
Find a comfortable position in bed or wherever you plan to rest.
Allow your body to settle.
Take a slow steady breath in through your nose and gently exhale through your mouth.
Do that again,
Breathing in calm and breathing out the day.
Feel the surface beneath you holding your body with ease.
You don't have to hold yourself up anymore,
You can fully let go.
Bring awareness to the crown of your head.
Imagine a wave of softness flowing downward.
Relax your forehead,
Your eyes,
Your cheeks.
Soften your jaw,
Parting your lips slightly.
Feel the wave of relaxation moving down into your shoulders.
Release the weight you've been carrying.
Let your arms grow heavy,
Resting easily by your sides.
Now bring awareness to your chest and stomach.
Soften your breath.
Let each exhale melt away tension.
Allow your back to sink more deeply into the support beneath you.
Move this relaxation down through your hips and legs.
Release the thighs.
The knees.
The calves.
Let your feet become heavy and warm.
From head to toe your body is at ease.
Now take a moment to imagine the events of your day gently gathering into a small glowing sphere in front of you.
Every thought,
Every responsibility,
Every to-do you've carried,
Place it in this sphere.
With your next exhale,
Let it slowly float away,
Drifting further and further into the distance until it disappears.
You don't need to hold on to the day anymore,
It is complete.
Turn now to the gentle rhythm of your breathing.
With each inhale,
Imagine drawing in calm,
Cool night air.
And with each exhale,
Imagine releasing warmth,
Tension and thought.
See yourself surrounded by a soft,
Comforting glow,
Like moonlight wrapping around your body.
This is your cocoon of rest,
Keeping you safe,
Peaceful and ready for sleep.
As you drift toward rest,
Silently repeat these words.
I am safe.
I am calm.
I welcome deep,
Peaceful sleep.
I am safe.
I am calm.
I welcome deep,
Peaceful sleep.
There's nothing more you need to do.
Allow yourself to be carried gently into the quiet of the night.
Rest deeply.
Sleep well.
