Heel drops.
So this is a practice you can do if you need some grounding,
You need to help your nervous system,
But also if you're feeling like you might have some excess energy in you,
Might have that kind of stuck feeling,
And it might feel a little bit cathartic to just kind of drop your heels onto the earth,
Which is exactly what we're going to do.
You are welcome to do this while standing up,
Which is what I'm doing now,
But you could also come to a seat and just come to the edge of the seat and make sure that your feet can be flat on the floor.
You can also do this with shoes on or off,
Totally your preference.
But essentially this tool,
This practice,
Is exactly what it sounds like.
We're going to lift our heels up off the earth and then just drop them back down onto the floor.
So you can go ahead and just start to gently do that.
Just lift up maybe onto your toes,
The ball of your feet,
And just drop back down onto the earth.
And of course,
Because this is audio,
You can't really see this happening,
But just trust yourself.
Just trust the rhythm,
The natural rhythm that you might find yourself wanting to do.
It could be a little quicker pace.
It could be a little slower.
You might notice and at some point you want to exhale like I just did.
That's your nervous system coming down a little bit.
You may want to make a little sound,
Just kind of an audible haa.
And you are welcome to do this for as long as it feels good to do so.
You just kind of let the rest of the vibrations as you drop the heels resonate,
Reverberate up through the rest of the body.
And when you are ready,
You can slow it down and eventually come to a stop and just take a moment and feel your feet on the floor.
Maybe even scrunch up your toes for a moment and then lengthen them,
Stretch them back out and see if you can notice all four corners of four corners of your feet on the earth.
Notice any sensation or texture beneath them,
Whether you're in your shoes or you're barefoot,
You might notice the carpet beneath you.
And if you're sitting in a chair,
You can bring this same noticing to the seat that you're sitting upon and just notice how the rest of you is supported in this moment and notice any difference to how you feel now versus prior to this practice.
And just take note,
Knowing of course that you can return to this and continue to try this and play with it whenever you need to.
