I sit among the trees and take a deep breath.
How common a sight before me.
Leaves.
Earth.
Branches.
Drunk.
It asks the question,
Where am I missing the magic?
How often do my eyes pass by such simple sights and never land in wonder?
Missing the dew drops and waves of wind rolling through the tree tops.
For what is so much more important to my eyes than this?
This common,
Beautiful magic.
Close your eyes now.
Imagine yourself in a space that you come to often.
It can be a room in your home.
A place that you pass by each day.
Somewhere where you rarely take a moment to stop and look.
And as you're imagining this place,
I want you to simply let your eyes land on the three things that you see that are unique to that space.
It can be the way the light shifts in the room or through the trees.
It can be the colors.
Something that in any other moment would appear ordinary or common.
But when really taking the time to look,
To see,
It's really quite extraordinary.
Notice what happens to your body as you allow yourself this time to be in awe,
In wonder,
In admiration.
Notice your own presence and the energy that is attached to that.
Can you feel yourself vibrating?
Can you feel the electrical currents of your whole body?
The shape of you taking up the space in this space in which you find wonder.
Just another moment now.
I want you to notice how your own noticing and observation can in fact nourish you.
This life that we are living is made up of moments just as these,
Except too often we move through them and pass them into what we think is next,
Often forsaking the experience of our own presence in our body,
In our sight,
In our listening.
So I would ask you what could really be more important than this,
Your own presence?
And as the world spins around us,
Mad,
Broken,
Needing to be fixed,
How is forsaking your presence helping any of it?
And perhaps your presence is the exact tonic and remedy,
The reminder we all need to slow down and to take in the common magic of our daily lives.
And just another moment in this imagined space,
Taking it all in.
And then go ahead and open your eyes and look around the very room that you're in right now.
See exactly what is before you and allow the curiosity of your own wonder and awe to come into this space and into this moment as if there is nothing more important right now.
May you spend the rest of your day in this kind of presence with yourself,
With the world that surrounds you,
With the people with whom you come into contact with,
And with the complete and total awareness that your life is filled with common magic.
May you spend the rest of your day in this kind of presence with the world that surrounds
