Welcome to this meditation to help you end the day with self-compassion.
I'm Sarah Zanacroce and I'll be your guide today.
I'm recording this meditation on a cloudy winter day from my home office in Switzerland.
This is your time to release judgment,
Self-criticism,
And instead end the day by embracing the warmth of understanding and kindness towards yourself.
Let's settle into a space where you can rest,
Knowing you deserve love and care exactly as you are.
So go ahead and find a comfortable position,
Either seated or lying down,
With your hands resting gently in your lap or at your sides.
If you haven't already,
And if it feels safe,
You can gently close your eyes now.
And take a deep breath in through your nose,
Feeling your lungs fill completely.
Hold your breath for a moment and then slowly exhale through your mouth,
Letting go of the day's tensions.
Let's do this again.
Take another deep breath in.
This time,
Imagine you're breathing in acceptance and kindness.
Hold it briefly.
And as you exhale,
Release any judgment or self-doubt that has been weighing on you.
And now just allow your breath to find a natural,
Comforting rhythm.
Let's start by bringing your attention to your body.
Notice how it feels at the end of the day.
Let's scan slowly from the top of your head to the tips of your toes,
Inviting softness and ease into any areas that feel tight or tense.
So let's start with your forehead.
Soften your brow and all the tiny muscles around your eyes.
Notice if you had your jaw clenched and unclenched.
Now let your shoulders drop away from your ears.
Feel your chest rise and fall gently and relax your belly.
Notice how your arms and legs rest heavily,
Fully supported by the surface beneath you.
And now imagine yourself in a safe,
Cozy space.
Maybe curled up in a soft blanket or seated in a quiet nook lit by warm,
Gentle light.
This is your personal sanctuary,
Where you are free to be exactly who you are without any expectations or demands.
Reflect on your day now.
Maybe you had moments you're proud of,
And also moments you wish had gone differently.
Just allow these thoughts to come and go without judgment.
Picture them as leaves floating on a calm stream,
Passing by naturally and gently.
No need to hold on to them or push them away.
Simply let them exist and let them move on.
Now bring to mind the compassion you'd show a dear friend if they felt uncertain,
Had made a mistake,
Or felt less than perfect.
What kind of words would you offer them?
How would you reassure them that they are worthy,
Loved,
And enough?
Take a deep breath.
And as you exhale,
Turn that kindness inward.
Speak to yourself as you would to someone you love,
Someone who deserves understanding and forgiveness.
Embrace yourself with that same gentle care.
You can silently repeat the following affirmations after me.
I treat myself with kindness and compassion.
I release harsh judgments and embrace my humanity.
I am worthy of love and understanding.
I rest tonight with a gentle,
Loving heart.
Feel these words settle into your being,
Nurturing a quiet confidence and a tender acceptance of who you are.
No matter how the day went,
You have arrived at this moment of softness and care.
Visualize yourself waking tomorrow with a heart already filled with understanding and warmth,
Ready to face a new day from a place of self-love.
Now,
Just enjoy another moment of stillness and peace.
Really feel the compassion you've cultivated,
Holding you gently and guiding you into rest.
And now,
Bring your awareness back to your breath and just let your body breathe for you with no effort whatsoever.
And when you feel ready,
You can slowly open your eyes and carry this sense of self-compassion and understanding with you as you move into the night.
Namaste.
