Building a gratitude practice into your day only takes a small amount of time, but it’s impact can be profound. This practice is designed to give you 5 minutes to focus on all the good in your life, even if it's a busy day. To remind you of all you have to be thankful for, to move you out of a state of lack and into one of appreciation and a feeling of abundance. It supports you to have a wider perspective, and can change your state of mind in an instant as it’s an opportunity to refocus and notice what is good and working in your life. The other significant aspect of gratitude, is that the more you look at what you do have, it increases your ability to see the positive in your life, and you attract more of it to you. Welcome to your five-minute daily gratitude practice.

Find a comfortable position.

Gently close your eyes or soften your gaze.

Take a deep breath in and exhale slowly.

Bring your awareness to this very moment in your life.

Acknowledge the gift of being here right now.

A sense of gratitude for this day you get to live,

The opportunities it holds and the simple act of being present.

Gratitude is a powerful antidote to any feelings of lack.

It invites a fresh perspective and reminds you of the abundance of goodness already in your life.

I invite you to bring to mind something you feel grateful for today.

It could be a person,

An experience or even something simple like the warmth of the Sun or the comfort of your space.

Rather than just a thought,

Begin to notice how this sense of gratitude feels in your body.

Perhaps there is a warmth in your chest or a soft smile on your face.

Allow this feeling to expand,

Filling your heart and spreading throughout your body.

Now think of one more thing you're grateful for.

Something small and often overlooked.

It could be the breath you're taking right now,

A sunrise,

A kind smile.

Acknowledge this gift with a sense of appreciation.

Feel this gratitude deeply as though every cell in your body is saying thank you,

Thank you,

Thank you.

Sense that this gratitude connects you to all the good in your life,

Past,

Present and yet to come.

Take a deep breath in,

Holding on to this feeling of gratitude.

Exhale softly.

When you're ready,

Bring some gentle movement back to your body.

Open your eyes,

Carrying this sense of gratitude with you as you go about your day.
