Perhaps only people who have or who are experiencing ‘that shape’ can really relate to this track.
I experienced many terrible bouts of depression when I was younger. I remember feeling heavy, emotionless and unable to carry out simple every day tasks. I cried an ocean and couldn’t imagine my life as any different. I would look at myself in the mirror and hate what I saw.
But I am living proof that you can get through these black times. I wish I had had the wisdom of Reuben then to help me.
How different my life would have been if I had understood that it is ok to not be ok, that all things pass and that normalising these feelings and realising I was not the only one feeling them, would help me.
No one knows what is round the corner for them but armed with Reubens insights and help I know for sure that if my depression comes back I will try to treat it gently and accept it as part of me.
