Sometimes you gotta go a little crazy to stay sane. In this meditation, I invite you to go buck wild! Dance, flail, moan, shout, whatever your heart desires! I’ll offer you prompts as ideas for how to move and express, know that these are just ideas to get the juices flowing for what’s possible. If any prompt I offer sounds like it could cause pain or injury to you and your body, skip it and express yourself in whatever way is coming up for you naturally.

Hello and welcome to this week's Purely Being meditation.

For this unique movement meditation,

All you need is a room by yourself,

Somewhere you can move around easily and freely,

Maybe some comfortable clothing that allows movement.

In this meditation,

We'll be letting our inner wild thing free and doing so as a way to release stagnant energy and also as a way to release the need to look pleasing all the time and behave properly.

The desire to look and behave in accordance with social norms is not a bad thing in and of itself.

It only becomes a problem if it's not coming from an authentic place or if it's preventing you from expressing your true feelings and emotions in healthy ways.

What life needs from you is you as you truly are,

An open vessel of pure love and light.

Holding your authentic expression back or holding on to dense emotions can dim this light and contract your experience of life as well as your offering to it.

And that's okay.

Today,

We're going to set some of that energy free by going a little bit wild.

Depending on your level of boldness in this moment,

You may want to save this practice for it's a time when it's just you and you're in a space where you feel truly free to express loudly and wildly without holding anything back.

But keep in mind that the ego can put this kind of thing off indefinitely and that you're more than free to adjust this practice to what's appropriate for your situation.

This practice as a whole is about release.

It's about breaking barriers within yourself to open expression and authentic being.

And of course,

It's about having fun.

There's power in being silly and being unafraid to look weird or wrong and not taking yourself or life too seriously.

To do this,

I'll offer you prompts as ideas for how to move and express,

But know that these are just ideas to get the juices flowing and to show you what's possible.

There's absolutely nothing here that you need to do and you can't get it wrong.

Even just sitting or laying down in silence and visualizing yourself doing this practice will offer some relief.

However,

I do encourage you to engage it as much as possible where you can.

As you do,

Make sure you do so in a way that causes no harm to anyone or anything in your environment,

Including yourself.

If any prompt I offer sounds like it could cause pain or injury to you and your body,

Skip it and express yourself in whatever way is coming up for you naturally.

In fact,

You may even want to pause this here and do some light stretching in preparation.

Alright,

If you're ready,

Take a deep inhale through your nose and exhale with a sigh.

Surrender.

Come to a seated position with your eyes closed and repeat after me.

I give myself permission to express freely.

I claim my right to be ugly,

To look wrong.

I do so in a way that causes no harm to anyone or anything.

I allow myself to be,

Live,

And move freely in accordance with my heart's truth.

Inhale,

Exhale.

And with your eyes closed,

Begin by making ugly faces,

Truly terrible ones.

Take your tongue out,

Squish and contract your face in scary ways.

Cross your eyes.

Shake your head.

Let it be ugly.

Let it look wrong.

You might shape your hands into claws and start to move in a more primal,

More animalistic way.

Just getting onto your hands and knees,

Allowing yourself to release ugly sounds from the depths of your being.

Moaning,

Groaning,

Growling,

Hissing.

Give yourself permission to let it sound bad,

Mean,

Ugly,

Wrong.

And if the inner judge or fear pops up to hold you back,

Silence it by raising your middle finger mudra and go even wilder.

Let yourself be too much and then more.

Now open your eyes and stand up.

Move your body freely.

You can start by swaying side to side or stomping your feet on the ground.

Allow yourself to dance badly here.

Let yourself look ugly.

Let your movements arise from the depths of your being.

If it feels good to move sexually,

Do so.

Put your hands on your body,

Your face,

Mess up your hair.

Shake,

Gyrate,

Punch and kick the air.

Spin in circles,

Be erratic,

Flail your limbs wildly.

Beat your fists against your chest like a gorilla.

Let your eyes go wide.

Release a roar.

Feel where you're holding back and let that part loose completely.

Give yourself permission to be freaky,

Be ugly,

Wild,

Unpredictable.

Be too much.

Be completely free in your motion and expression no matter how it looks or sounds.

If it feels right,

Get down on the ground and roll around.

Beat your fists against the earth.

Let your eyes roll back,

Contort your face.

Make noise,

Curse,

Scream,

Howl.

Be crazy.

You can speak in tongues if it feels good.

Let it sound bad.

Let it be too much.

Hiss,

Stick your tongue out like a snake.

Truly let it all hang out.

Let it pour out of you.

Now,

Come to lay on your back with your arms and legs spread wide,

Palms facing up.

Let your head roll from side to side,

Letting off any sounds,

Moans,

Groans that your body needs.

Let your whole body and face go slack.

Surrender and take a deep breath in and out.

Take a moment to be completely still where you are with your eyes closed.

Feel your heart beating in your chest.

Feel the energy moving through your body.

Notice how you feel in this moment.

Refreshed,

Exhausted,

Free.

Give yourself permission to feel what you feel.

Not trying to change it.

Not calling it good or bad,

Right or wrong.

Just letting it be as it is.

However your expression came out today,

Call it perfect.

It was exactly what you needed in this moment,

Exactly what you're ready for.

Not too much,

Not too little.

Take another deep breath in through the nose,

Exhaling through your mouth with a sigh.

Relax,

Surrender,

Let go.

Feel the peace of surrender,

Give thanks for your honesty,

For your willingness to let it all hang out.

And the truth is,

The more you give yourself the gift of showing up honestly and freely every day,

The less you'll feel like you need to go wild.

Your life will simply be an expression of your loving soul set free.

You'll move and express and sing and sound and dance however you authentically are in the moment and it will feel so good.

Thank you so much for joining me here today.

From my wild and free heart to yours,

Namaste.

I don’t express anger publicly so I was shocked to observe how much rage left my body during this exercise and how much I was laughing by the end. I felt like a true crazy person but I loved the release. By far the best thing I’ve done here on Insight Timer. Thank you, Lucy 🤍
