Hi,
Welcome to Peacebeam.
Now just make sure that you are sitting or lying down very comfortably.
And just close your eyes now.
For the next few minutes,
Just follow my voice.
And we begin,
As always,
With step one.
Notice.
Just begin to notice how you're feeling today.
What does it feel like to be in your body today?
How is your mood?
And just notice.
And now we're going to move to step two,
Which is breathe.
And this is where we just bring our attention and our focus to our breathing.
So just begin to notice how your breath moves in and out through your nose or your mouth.
Just feel the air.
And if you would like,
Put your hand on your chest and feel the natural rise and fall as you breathe.
And now just imagine that every time you breathe in,
You're breathing the air deep down into your lungs and into your heart.
And with every breath,
Your heart is lighting up with golden light that you then breathe out into the world.
And the rhythm of your heart,
Your heartbeat,
And the rhythm of your breath are saying hello to each other.
And as they meet,
They create this lovely sense of peace and relaxation for you to drop into now.
As you just listen quietly and calmly for the next few moments.
And we move to step three,
Which is activate.
Today we're going to think about mistakes.
You know,
Many of us are very worried about making mistakes.
But in truth,
Our mistakes can be our greatest teachers.
They can show us really important things about who we are and what we want in our lives.
And sometimes they can lead us to wonderful places,
Events,
And people that might never have come into our lives if we hadn't made the mistake.
There is a Chinese folk tale that I really like that teaches us about the beauty of mistakes.
There is a man who has a very beautiful horse that he's terribly proud of.
And one evening,
He makes a mistake and he doesn't close the gate properly into the horse's paddock.
And when he gets up in the morning,
His horse is gone.
That is terrible luck,
All of his neighbours think.
But the next day,
His horse returns and with him is this really rare and really beautiful mare female horse that he'd met out in the forest.
What incredibly good luck,
The man's neighbours think.
And then a couple of weeks later,
The man's son decides to take the beautiful mare out for a gallop.
He falls off the horse and breaks his leg,
Which leaves him permanently lame,
Not able to walk very well.
Oh my goodness,
This is terribly bad luck,
The neighbours think.
But about a month later,
There is a war and all the young men are called to go and fight.
But the man's son is saved because his broken leg means that he can't go to war.
And so what this story shows us is that when we see things that we think are terrible or that we think we've made a dreadful mistake,
They can actually turn out to be a great gift.
The important thing to remember is that we all make mistakes.
They are part of life.
They are part of growing up.
So the next time you make one,
Don't be hard on yourself.
Just try and recognise if there is something that you can learn for the next time.
And then smile and let the lesson go.
And now let's move to step four,
Peace beam.
So remember that when we peace beam,
What we're doing is we are wishing from the bottom of our hearts really good things for ourselves and for everybody that we meet today.
So just imagine now that that beautiful golden light that is in your heart is beaming out into the world.
Thank you for listening and we will see you the next time.
