Bike.
Hello and welcome back to day six of your week of peace.
So just close your eyes,
Make yourself very comfortable and join me as we move to step one,
Notice.
And this is where we begin to create a space and an atmosphere of kindness to ourselves by noticing how we feel.
So just hold that question,
How am I today?
And see what comes back.
Maybe start to notice whether your face is frowning or relaxed and either way smile.
Now let's move to step two,
Breathe.
Just move your attention now onto your breath and watch the inhale and the exhale.
And if it feels good for you,
You can begin to slightly extend that in-breath and out-breath.
And as you do that,
Focus on your heart area and you can put your hand there if you want,
Or just connect to it in your mind's eye and see your breath flowing in and out of your heart.
And just let yourself drop and feel that shift into ease,
Into neutral,
And just stay with that.
The world and all of its activities and speed is still going on all around you,
But just notice that for these few moments,
You can bring yourself to a state of calm just by watching your breath.
Now let's gather up that state of calm and bring it with us to step three,
Activate.
And today I want you to consider your heart.
And as you listen to my voice,
Just deeply relax and keep your heart in your focus.
This incredible physical organ that like your breath,
Started at one moment and has been beating ever since,
Constant.
You never have to think about it or remember it.
It just keeps going,
One beat after another,
The soundtrack to your life.
In every culture,
There is a way of describing the intelligence of the heart.
We say things like,
My heart knew,
I listened to my heart,
I followed my heart.
We now know from science that our intuition has always been correct.
The heart does have its own intelligence,
Its own nervous system,
Its own neurons that sense and feel and learn.
And our heart is in constant dialogue with our head,
Telling us what we feel.
So when we're in a state of positive emotion,
Like love or care,
Peace,
Appreciation,
Or kindness,
Our heartbeat pattern shows a harmonious rhythm.
And that rhythm signals the brain to give us access to our higher functions,
Our higher intelligence.
And we then have the opportunity of responding to the events of our lives rather than reacting.
And as you have been here,
Listening,
Watching your breath,
You have created for yourself a coherent heart rhythm and a coherent brain pattern that allows you to move beyond stress,
Beyond fight or flight,
Beyond anxiety,
Into your great potential,
The potential of your heart,
For building peace,
Empathy,
Connection,
Kindness,
Thriving,
Loving,
And living.
And this is why we come to this place,
This doorway that our heart affords us.
It's the doorway to our inner peace.
So just be here now for a few moments with the miracle of your heart and the miracle of your breath and the possibility of your peace.
Beautiful.
Now let's move to step four,
Peace beam.
You have the power within your own body to make a choice for a peaceful life and to create a calm atmosphere around you for everybody's benefit.
So look around you now wherever you are and wish peace to the people,
Places,
And creatures that surround you.
And to anchor your practice today,
Whoever you meet,
Just consider the power of their heart and quietly bless them with your wish for unrestricted good.
Have a beautiful day.
Thank you for listening.
