Hi,
Everyone.
We're living in an unprecedented social climate.
Many are understandably feeling panic and fear.
Things are well outside of our control.
We're being asked to completely change the way we live,
And we're used to things being much more predictable.
Our lives may not always go according to plan,
But the plan usually goes ahead.
That we're not alone in this can be hard to see at the moment,
When we're asked to distance ourselves socially and physically from each other in the world.
And for the foreseeable future,
We cannot do a lot of the things that we previously counted on to keep us grounded.
Humans are adaptable,
However,
And I have confidence that we will find our way through this,
That we will find new ways together.
So I'm going to teach you a small practice that I've found invaluable over the years,
And I hope it's of some comfort to you.
Most people are aware,
On an intuitive level at least,
That nature has the ability to help us heal.
But most are unaware that we can connect with nature from inside our homes or offices.
Studies show fir tree essential oils have a similar effect on people as taking forest paths,
Or that playing in the dirt can actually make you happy because microbes in the soil act as an antidepressant,
Or that being able to see a tree from a hospital window can greatly reduce recovery times and patients' convalescing.
Now I'm not suggesting that you replace hiking or landscaping or any of the other wonderful things that you do outside with diffusers,
Potted plants,
Or gazing out a window.
But I am suggesting that you can still find ways to connect with nature right from your living room and receive some healing nourishment for your soul.
So first,
I would like you to find something that you wish to connect with.
It can be something that you see from a window,
Like the stars,
Some trees,
The color of the sky,
The shape of clouds,
The rain,
Perhaps some flowers.
Right now I'm looking at some big fluffy snowflakes,
Maybe the last ones that I'll see this year.
Or it can be something inside like a houseplant or a handful of soil from an old bag of potting mix or even a glass of water.
Something you feel a connection with in this moment.
So contemplate the color,
The movement,
If there is any.
Smell it or imagine what it might smell like.
Just connect with the soul of it,
For everything has a soul.
And take some long deep breaths while you study this nature soul.
And so on your next deep exhale,
Give a tone to your breath like this.
It doesn't matter what it sounds like,
What key you're in or not in.
And your sound does not need to match mine in any way.
So just reconnect with your breath and your nature soul and let's sing to nature together in this way for a few minutes.
Ah.
Ah.
Ah.
Ah.
Ah.
Ah.
Ah.
Ah.
Ah.
Ah.
