Hello and welcome to this evening's gratitude reflection.
The focus of this brief reflection is to find meaning in the ordinary.
So without further ado,
Settle into a comfortable position and allow your body to arrive exactly as it is,
Without needing to change anything,
Without needing to improve anything and simply letting the day come to a close.
You can close your eyes or soften your gaze and take a slow breath in through your nose and a longer breath out.
Return to the natural rhythm of the breath and bring your attention to the ordinary details of your day.
Most of our lives are actually lived in these small unnoticed moments that we move through quickly,
Without really pausing to recognise them.
See if you can recall a simple part of your day,
Something routine or familiar,
Preparing the food,
Walking somewhere,
Sitting quietly for a moment,
Getting ready in the morning,
Whatever it is,
As you bring that moment into your awareness,
Notice how quickly the mind wants to move past it,
As if it doesn't matter,
But stay with it,
Because within these ordinary moments is where life actually happens.
Notice the textures,
The sensations,
The quiet presence of being there.
Now consider how many of these moments you moved through today without resistance,
How you continued despite small things that were not easy,
But you adapted or you adjusted.
You continued and that continuity is something that we rarely acknowledge.
So let's reflect on this and allow ourselves to recognise that.
Think about the things that supported you today internally,
Your patience,
Your effort,
Your willingness to keep going.
Notice that all these things came from you.
Gratitude is not only for what we receive,
But also for what we bring.
Take a deep breath in and a soft breath out.
And you may stay here in quiet awareness for a few more moments,
Allowing the day to settle and realising that it was a series of moments that were lived,
That nothing had to be added and nothing had to be removed,
But just acknowledged.
Thank you.
