Understanding And Recovering From Burnout

With Olga Ruiz Pilato

You're still showing up. Still reliable. Still, the person other people lean on. But something has shifted — quietly, without announcement — and rest isn't touching it anymore. This course is for the version of burnout that doesn't look the way burnout is supposed to look. The kind that doesn't give you permission to stop because on paper, you're fine. The kind that lives in a chest that's slightly too tight, weekends that don't restore, and a flatness underneath the functioning that you can't quite name. Across five sessions, we move through what's actually happening — physiologically, psychologically, and underneath all of that, personally. Not to help you work through burnout and return to doing exactly the same things. But to build a genuinely different relationship with your own capacity, so this doesn't become another cycle. Each session combines a talk where the understanding happens and with a guided practice that takes that understanding into the body. There are also journal prompts at the close of each session, designed to extend the work beyond the recording. This course won't tell you to take a sabbatical or download a productivity app. It will tell you the truth about what's actually going on, and give you real tools to work with it.

Meet your Teacher

Olga is a 500-hour certified yoga and meditation teacher with years of experience guiding people through practices focused on the mind, the nervous system, and the patterns that keep us stuck. Her approach sits at the intersection of meditative awareness and psychological understanding — less focused on emptying the mind, more interested in helping people understand what the mind is doing and why. She works with people who are self-aware but caught in loops: overthinking, emotional overwhelm, harsh self-judgment, and the particular exhaustion of high-functioning burnout. Burnout That Doesn't Look Like Burnout draws on both her training and her own direct experience of burnout — the kind that doesn't announce itself, that continues to function while quietly depleting. That lived experience shapes how she teaches: without shortcuts, without false reassurance, and with a clear understanding of what it actually feels like to keep going when the system is running on empty. Olga's teaching is grounded, direct, and psychologically informed — designed for people who are tired of surface-level advice and ready to work with something real.

Lesson 1

Still Running

Recognition is the first step — and for people who are still functioning, it's often the hardest. This session gives language to what's been hard to name: the kind of depletion that doesn't announce itself, the tiredness that sleep doesn't touch, and the particular experience of knowing something is off without feeling "burned out enough" to say so. The practice is a quiet body-based inventory — less about relaxation, more about honest acknowledgment.

Lesson 2

The System Under The System

If rest isn't working, there's a reason — and it's physiological, not personal. This session explains why a nervous system that has been running in low-grade activation mode loses the ability to shift into genuine recovery. You'll understand what chronic cortisol dysregulation actually feels like from the inside, and why the dose of rest that used to work simply isn't sufficient anymore. The practice is a nervous system downregulation drill, built around the extended exhale — straightforward, repeatable, and something you can return to daily.

Lesson 3

How You Got Here

This is the session most courses skip — and the one that makes lasting change possible. High-functioning burnout almost always has roots in something specific: a learned equation between productivity and worth, a difficulty distinguishing what you want from what you feel you have to do, a relationship with rest that carries guilt or unease. This session looks at that honestly, and with compassion — because you built this pattern for reasons that made sense, and understanding those reasons is how you stop repeating the cycle. The practice is a guided, compassionate inquiry into the pattern itself.

Lesson 4

What Recovery Doesn't Look Like

Recovery from high-functioning burnout rarely looks like a sabbatical — and it doesn't require one. This session dismantles the fantasy version of recovery. It replaces it with something genuinely workable: understanding the difference between numbing and genuine restoration, knowing what actually restores you (not what should), and building recovery into the structure of a life you can't completely stop. The practice works with embodied memory — using the felt sense of past restoration as a physiological signal — and ends with a clear-eyed question about what your system actually needs right now.

Lesson 5

A Different Relationship With Capacity

This session closes honestly — not with the promise of recovery, but with something more durable: the beginning of a different orientation toward yourself. We look at capacity as dynamic rather than fixed, at the difference between high-functioning-at-a-cost and high-functioning-sustainably, and at what becomes possible when you stop leading with override. The practice brings the full course together in an integration session — with space, with silence, and with one specific intention you set for yourself from a grounded, informed place.
