Welcome to today's meditation on the theme of digital detox.
I hope that the following meditation will help you find inner peace by disconnecting from your device and becoming a bit more self-aware and mindful in a world dominated by screens.
I also hope that you can allow yourself to disconnect from the noise of the digital world for the next 15 minutes and to reconnect with yourself.
In our modern lives we're constantly surrounded by screens,
Notifications,
Digital distractions and so today we're going to just unplug from that world even if it's just for a short while to restore balance and find inner peace.
So just taking a moment here to settle in and to allow yourself to relax and close your eyes.
If closing your eyes is not comfortable perhaps just soften the gaze.
Trying to let go of the urge to check your phone or to think about what emails are left unanswered,
What messages to get back to or to send.
For these next few minutes it's just you and your breath.
Start by focusing on your breath now.
Get ground here by taking a deep inhale through your nose and a slow exhale through your mouth.
And the next time you inhale feel the cool air enter your nostrils.
Make its passage through to your lungs.
And finally filling up the belly.
And with your next exhale release any tension in and around your gut or your chest.
Continue to breathe slowly and deeply.
Noticing the rise and fall of your chest and belly.
Each breath brings you more and more into the present moment,
Away from any distractions.
Imagine yourself holding your phone,
Your laptop or the screen you use the most.
Visualize the device in your hands.
Notice the urge that might come with it,
The desire to scroll,
To check notifications.
To be constantly connected.
Imagine now gently placing that device down away from you.
With each breath you're distracting yourself from the digital noise.
You are stepping into a space where none of those distractions can reach you.
Imagine yourself,
Really try to visualize yourself in a peaceful environment.
It could be a forest,
A beach during sunrise,
Or a quiet mountaintop.
And feel the air around you,
Fresh and free from technology.
Notice how peaceful and calming it is to be here,
Without the need to check a screen.
With every breath imagine gentle waves of relaxation washing over you and just cleansing you from any digital overload.
Now bring your awareness to your inner self for a moment.
And without the distractions of the digital world,
Notice how your body feels right now.
It might be feelings of relief or peace.
There might still be some tension,
However.
And just knowing that whatever you're feeling is okay.
The goal of meditation is to just observe whatever you feel,
Whatever comes,
Without judgment.
To fully acknowledge and to understand your emotions.
Your thoughts and your sensations.
As you continue to breathe,
Allow yourself to be fully present.
No screams,
No distractions,
Just you,
Your breath and the moment.
This is your time to recharge.
Take a deep breath in and a slow breath out.
As we've come to the end of this practice,
Just take in a second here to reflect on how you feel right now.
You might feel a little lighter,
More relaxed,
More aware of your own presence in this world.
Remember,
You don't always need to be connected digitally.
Sometimes the most important connection is the one you have.
With yourself.
And whenever you're ready,
Gently flutter your eyes open.
I hope you can bring this feeling of peace and mindfulness with you as you return to your day.
Thank you very much for breathing with me today and allowing me to guide you.
I hope this practice was helpful for you and if it was,
Please consider supporting my work.
I appreciate you.
Namaste.
