Time to get comfy.
Let us lie down on our backs,
Palms facing up to the sky.
We are going to create a picture in our minds.
This will make us feel peaceful and relaxed.
Have you ever noticed that when you spend time outside in nature,
Amongst the trees,
The flowers,
The plants,
The creatures of the outdoors and the birds,
That your body and mind feel calm?
If you take the time to notice,
You will find that nature has a very special effect on us.
Like magic,
It can relax us,
Maybe even make us feel like smiling for no reason at all.
Close your eyes.
Let our nature adventure begin.
In your mind,
You are going to create a picture.
We will be taking a nature walk together.
I will be helping you create the scene,
So all you need to do is use your imagination.
See yourself in your mind walking on a path through a forest.
You may choose to walk with someone special in your life.
Maybe it is your mum,
Dad,
Possibly one of your grandparents,
Your brother,
Sister,
Best friend or even your pet.
It is up to you.
This is your story to create.
Imagine the path beneath your feet.
It is soft,
A mixture of soil,
Fallen leaves and moss.
You feel the cool ground under your toes as you walk.
Your body relaxes.
Your mind feels quite peaceful,
More and more with each step you take.
Breathe in the fresh air,
Filling your lungs up with a big breath.
Breathe out.
All this fresh air leaves you feeling quite refreshed.
The air is pleasant.
The temperature feels lovely on your skin.
You turn your head up to the sky and look up towards the treetops.
Sun is shining through the canopy.
You look back down towards the ground and see the sun is making pretty patterns on the ground in front of you as it peaks through the treetops.
Nature has many sounds.
Listen to the sounds around you.
Sounds of animals and insects.
You hear a concert of humming,
Thrumming,
Buzzing and chirping,
Frogs,
Ficators and then the birds who make some of the loudest sounds you hear.
There are softer sounds too.
The leaves of the trees rustling,
A gentle breeze blowing them.
Your body relaxes more and more as you walk and listen.
Your arms,
Shoulders and top part of your body feel soft and relaxed as you peacefully stroll further into the forest.
Feel your back relaxing as you continue to take in the wondrous forest scenery around you.
Your legs and lower body relax as well as you continue to walk,
Feeling free and light.
The colours of the trees delight you.
Deep greens,
Soft greens,
Lighter greens.
Trees surround you of different colours,
Sizes and ages.
Some of the trees look very old,
Like they have been here forever.
Others are younger with fresh growth.
You spot tiny new buds sprouting on some of their branches.
Trees of all different sizes,
With different trunks.
So many colours,
So many textures.
The breeze continues to blow through the tree tops,
But you are sheltered on the path and the air around you is calm.
Smell the forest,
The air is fresh and filled with the scent of the trees,
Soil,
The earth.
Continue to stroll,
Enjoying the smells,
The sights and the relaxing effect is having on your body and mind.
Up ahead you see a clearing,
A lookout awaits you.
You stand here for a few moments,
Admiring the beauty in front of you.
The sun is warming,
Relaxing your body even more.
You feel peaceful,
Quiet and at ease.
Enjoy the calm and stillness that Mother Nature bestows upon us.
Feel the gentle breeze blowing across your skin.
Listen to the birds singing for one moment longer,
The leaves rustling in the breeze.
Imagine the flowers,
The trees,
Valley and the mountains around you.
Enjoy this peaceful place in your mind.
It is time to start making our journey home now.
When you're ready to leave,
Slowly begin to take some deeper breaths.
Know that you can return to this peaceful place in nature,
In your imagination,
Whenever you like.
As you reawaken,
You keep with you the feeling of calm,
Peace and relaxation.
Wiggle your fingers and toes to wake up your muscles and stretch if you want to.
When you are ready,
You can slowly open your eyes,
Feeling refreshed,
Calm and peaceful.
