We all need a rest and a reset from time to time.
Life asks so much of us and we can move away from ourselves and what we know is right and healthy for us.
So today we'll explore a visualization that will give you a really nice rest and the time and space to reset.
The first part of the practice is a rest and you can only rest if you're comfortable so please find a comfortable position that works well for you and if there's anything you need to do to make yourself more comfortable please do it now.
I'd like you to imagine yourself standing in a really busy street.
Traffic is gridlocked,
There are cars,
Bikes,
Trucks,
Buses,
People are honking their horns,
Others are shouting,
People are chattering,
Laughing,
You can hear music coming from shops and bars,
You can smell exhaust fumes,
You can smell the scent of food cooking in takeaways and restaurants,
You can smell cigarette smoke,
There's a lot going on.
Everywhere you look you see people and vehicles.
You start to feel like you need a break.
You look around and see a sign directing you to a local park.
You decide to walk towards the park.
As you walk along the path towards the park everything gets quieter.
Sounds fall away into the distance.
The scent of exhaust fumes and food and cigarette smoke is replaced by a lighter,
Fresher,
Cleaner air and you catch the subtle scent of fresh flowers.
You start to hear birdsong.
There are fewer and fewer people around and those you do see are walking slowly.
You enter the park through a beautiful ornate wrought iron gate.
Immediately you feel a sense of peace.
It's quieter,
It's much more peaceful and really beautiful.
You walk along the path in the park and with every step feel yourself growing more relaxed,
More connected to your body,
To your breath and to the beautiful nature all around you.
You see a lovely grassy area to your right hand side.
You decide to walk across the grass and take a seat on a beautiful carved wooden bench there.
You sit down and immediately feel tension flow from your body as you let go and you take some time to listen to the birds and the sound of the wind gently rustling the leaves on the trees.
You feel your shoulders drop as they relax.
Your breathing starts to slow down naturally.
Your senses start to relax.
You feel yourself letting go.
Letting go.
You take a couple of deep breaths breathing in the fresh air and slow out breaths letting go.
Letting go of the busyness of the world.
I'd love you to stay here for a minute and enjoy the rest.
Enjoying your well-deserved rest and your break from the world.
And if and when your mind starts to run back to the busy world very gently just guide it back.
Rest.
And while your mind and body rest you might like to think about the areas in your life where you might need a reset.
You might like to think about the areas in your life where you've gone off track a bit.
Just seeing what comes up for you no judgment.
We all go off track regularly.
You know that success and progress are not linear.
You might like to tell yourself something you need to hear right now.
Perhaps something like it's okay we'll get back on track.
I love you and I'm here for you.
Taking a few moments now to think about how you might get back on track and if you need some external support help or advice.
And then very gently when you're ready you can allow the visualization to fall away.
Knowing you can always come back to this practice and come back to this park when you need a rest and a reset.
And thank you so so much for practicing with me today.
