I know it's not easy,

But please try not to worry too,

Too much.

Please try not to give in to feelings of hopelessness and futility,

Because you're not in control.

None of us are.

We're all of us having an earthly experience,

And none of us have lived this life before.

So,

When you find yourself bogged down by worry,

Fear,

Anxieties about the future,

You can always come and sit with me.

You can always come and sit with me like this,

In the shared knowledge that this is not easy.

We know that sometimes life is joyful,

It's absolutely fantastic.

You feel connected,

Loved,

Hopeful.

Sometimes it's mundane,

Run-of-the-mill,

Boring even.

And sometimes it's so hard,

And so worrying,

And at times so sad,

That sometimes it brings you to your knees.

But getting bogged down in worry,

In fear,

In anticipation of the worst happening,

It doesn't help because you're not in control.

None of us are.

Let's sit together now,

You and I,

Noticing the breath in the body,

A sign of life.

One breath,

Then another,

The body is breathing,

A reminder that you're not in control.

We are not in control.

Let's imagine there's a box in front of us,

An empty cardboard box.

Let's put our worries in there,

Let's put our worst fears in there,

Let's do it together now.

I'll put my fears about the future in,

My money worries,

Health concerns,

The worries that I won't realize or achieve,

My dreams.

I'll put my worries in there,

You put yours in there too,

Whatever's worrying you.

I think if we did that,

We'd notice that some of our fears are very similar.

Now let's tape up the box,

Seeing the taped up box in your mind's eye,

Containing all your worries,

Let's leave it there just for now.

And let's sit together,

Let's experience a moment of peace,

You and I,

Free from all of that,

Knowing that all we really have is this moment,

And that in this moment we're alive,

And while we are alive there is hope,

There's possibility,

And we are loved,

And those things in the box might not come to fruition.

Spending a minute now together,

Enjoying the peace,

May you touch peace,

May you know that you are loved,

May you know that we are all so,

So similar,

None of us likes to suffer,

But we all do,

And we all long to be loved,

Cared for,

And accepted,

But may you know that you are deeply,

Deeply loved,

And thank you so,

So much for sitting with me today,

Thank you.

That was helpful…accepting and putting the worries in a box makes me want to actually decorate a box and keep it to write any worries down and drop them in. I think I might have done this many years ago. It also felt like you were right there and cut all the lonliness and shame away. A quick fix in a short time! Thanks.
