In these strange days,

It's more important than ever to be aware of our thoughts and emotions.

A runaway internal story of struggle and fear can be causing huge anxiety when the reality around us is quiet and uneventful.

It makes sense then to develop the ability to know that we are thinking,

To take a step back and realize the content and the resultant emotions and energy costs of our thoughts.

This ability is only developed by regular,

Frequent repetition.

This track aims to help you to practice to become aware when you drift off into thought stories,

Leaving you more free to choose how you use your attention.

The lighter section is a body scan.

I hope the track helps you to feel more present,

Refreshed and relaxed so you have the energy and resources to move forwards in any way you can.

Find a comfortable position and settle.

Let your breathing patterns slow and steady.

Close your eyes.

Listen to the music.

Hear the strands of sound.

A thought may appear and carry you into its story.

To me,

This feels something like I'm falling drowsily down and when I become aware that I'm in a thought story,

It feels like I'm rising up into a clearer,

Lighter place.

That's how it feels to me.

What's your experience of drifting off and then becoming aware?

Now relax,

Let go and hear the strands of sound just as they are,

Just as you are,

Right now.

Has something captured your attention?

A picture,

Words,

Sounds,

Feelings?

Focus your attention on it carefully,

Slowly.

Notice how compelling it seemed to be.

But it's just a thought.

Let it drift and fade.

And hear the strands of sound just as they are,

Just as you are,

Right now.

Being aware that you are aware.

And now imagine the thick,

Sensuous sounds are a soft,

Warm blanket covering and enfolding your body.

And let your muscles and bones loosen and completely release.

Warm feet,

Heavy legs,

Loose hips,

Relaxed back,

Soft stomach,

Chest warm and wide,

Arms loose and heavy,

Shoulders soft and free,

Neck released,

Head relaxed and loose,

Soft eyes,

Loose face,

Released jaw.

Let your body,

Your cells,

Your mind,

Your heart drift and float and completely release.

And now rested and refreshed,

Prepare to move forward into activity.

Open your eyes.
