Hi,
I'm London,
And I'll be guiding you through this meditation centered around letting go.
Make your way into a comfortable position.
You can be seated or lying down.
Just prioritize length in your spine.
Feel your eyelids grow heavy and relax the muscles of your face.
Take a few deep,
Grounding breaths,
Making your exhale longer than your inhale.
Now draw your attention to the crown of your head.
Slowly scan your body from head to toe,
Noticing any areas of tension,
Resistance,
Clenching.
And this can include tension in your mind,
In your thoughts.
Whenever you come across any type of tension,
Take a few deep breaths into that area or into that thought.
As you inhale,
Silently whisper,
I see you.
As you exhale,
Say to yourself,
I surrender and release.
Once you've scanned your entire body from head to toe,
Bring your focus to your mind.
Imagine your mind is a blue sky,
And your thoughts are clouds.
Be aware if your mind is mostly blue or if it's mostly cloudy in this moment.
Now simply watch the thoughts as they enter your mind and as they drift away.
It would be unnatural to attempt to turn off your mental chatter,
Just as it would be unnatural to never have clouds in the sky.
Best practice is about changing your relationship with your thoughts,
Realizing that thoughts come and thoughts go,
But they don't define us.
Our thoughts are not our identity.
So as each thought enters,
Identify it without any personal attachment,
An idea,
A memory,
Something to do,
And then let that thought drift away.
Come back to this meditation each time you're feeling attached,
Whether it's to a particular thought,
Whether it's to a particular person or situation,
Back to this.
And remember that letting go is not something that we accomplish just because we've told ourselves that we want to release something.
It's a process,
A practice.
Give yourself grace and reset.
Namaste.
