I am Michelle and as you listen to this meditation,

Imagine my voice is the voice of your greatest advocate and a dear friend.

I want you to feel your best and care for yourself with love and appreciation for your body,

Mind,

And spirit.

Every day you do the best that you can given all the moving parts of the human experience.

Let these sacred moments before sleep offer a mental playground where you imagine better and self-soothe with the nurturing words of this practice.

You are a special,

Creative being and you deserve to feel safe and empowered.

Customize every moment of this meditation to what works best for you.

You are the expert on yourself.

Step away from my voice and surrender to sleep whenever you desire.

Align with what feels right and feel free to imagine things differently than I describe.

You are the artist.

I am merely your guide.

Find comfort in the sanctuary of your room.

Slow down your breath and savor each sip of air.

By slowing down your breath,

You slow down your nervous system.

As your nerve cells stand down,

You release any and all tension in your muscles.

There is a powerful connection between your breath and your nervous system.

And by simply adjusting your breathing,

You can feel safe in the sanctuary of your body and mind.

It's important to appreciate every bit of holding or tension in your body before you release it.

It is there for a reason.

Your body is intuitive and sensitive to your surroundings.

It communicates your deepest needs with physical responses.

It's doing its job even when you aren't paying attention.

Place one hand on your heart and the other on your diaphragm as you thank your body for doing its best to keep you safe.

Feel your heavy eyelids atop your tired eyes.

Like shutters on a window,

They separate you from the outside world.

So you may focus on your inside world.

The night is the time to explore the wonders of your inner world as your body restores itself.

And you float through the cycles of sleep and the dreams to come.

Open your mouth and let out a sigh.

Make a sound as you do.

You can let your sigh be exaggerated and theatrical.

Do whatever it takes in this moment to let it be known that you are eager and ready to let go.

The sigh indicates that you want no part of tension or discomfort.

It causes a feeling of peace to travel over your body from head to toe.

Sip in the air through your nose and appreciate how your nasal passages warm and prepare the air before it arrives in your lungs.

Your body is naturally equipped to be efficient and keep you thriving when you are at peace.

Expand your abdomen with this healing oxygen.

Feel your ribs and chest rise as your heart opens itself towards bliss and hope that will come in the healing night ahead.

And when you cannot inhale anymore,

Open your mouth into a delicious yawn.

You can fake a yawn until it naturally happens.

And sigh again.

The sigh causes your body to sink deep into the comforts of your bed.

Imagine your mattress hugs around the contours of your body,

Protecting your spine as your pillows support and protect your neck and head.

Cherish the safety of this moment.

Many times in life you may have wished to be tucked safely in bed.

And now you are.

This pleasurable experience is worthy of your gratitude and appreciation.

Take in another conscious breath when you are ready.

As you inhale through your nose,

Think of the words I AM.

Open your mouth and yawn.

And as you exhale,

Focus on the words AT PEACE.

I AM AT PEACE.

Inhale again at your own comfortable pace.

I AM.

Yawn one last time and sigh,

Exhale,

And release on the word SAFE.

I AM SAFE.

You may return your breath to normal,

But with the ebb and flow of every inhalation and exhalation,

Your nervous system is soothed by the repeated message that you are safe.

You are well.

You are at peace.

You are the protector of your peace.

You may now delve into a brief body scan,

Going over the energy centers of your body like the host of a five star resort.

Pretend your only priority and intention is to offer an oasis for healing and bliss.

Bringing this energy to the crown of your head and relaxed face,

Your jaw releases,

Your lips part slightly,

Your tongue relaxes.

You welcome your mind,

Your head,

Your neck and your shoulders to this relaxing paradise.

As you breathe in and out,

You can smell the air of this resort.

The resort can be located on a tropical island or in the pristine mountainside.

It can be located in a desert or along a rocky coastline.

You decide the setting that soothes you most as you continue to travel down your body and welcome your heart,

Your lungs,

Your ribs,

Your diaphragm and your belly to this oasis for peace.

What you focus on will always grow.

So focus on the feelings that come in paradise.

Welcome every cell of your body,

The residents in each region,

As if they are friends and you are happy to let them know that peace is here.

Your mental vacation has begun.

And as you travel down your spine,

Your hips and your pelvic region,

You carry this message an invitation to paradise.

Sensations of peace become stronger.

Supported by the community of cells that have already signed off for this spectacular journey,

These feelings ripple down your legs,

Through your joints and over your feet that have carried you through another day.

Everything about this moment is soft and pleasant.

Your skin feels the delight that comes after a day of being sun kissed,

Cleansed and now wrapped in crisp,

Clean sheets.

Your muscles are soft like warm salt water taffy.

Your joints release.

Your lips form a slight smile.

And if you were to observe your body at this sacred moment,

As an outsider,

You would see a very relaxed,

Content person.

You have made space for peace and so you surrender to it.

The more you focus on your peace,

The more you protect it and prioritize it.

It will be easier to break attachments with things that do not serve your mental health and inner peace when you maintain your intention.

And through each day you will find yourself releasing thoughts and disengaging from interactions that interfere with your quest for balance and inner calm.

Even in the darkness of night,

A large velvet bag sits on the floor of your room.

You pack it with all the things that disturb your peace.

They can be anything at all,

Simple things,

Ongoing situations,

Negative people,

Whatever it is that has been holding you back from maintaining your peace.

What has been bothering you?

And what is hindering your bliss?

Even the smallest things that cause a catch in your breath or a sensation of resistance may be included in this mission.

Watch as thoughts and ideas float out of your head and into this bag.

You now see yourself on a trail in a healing forest illuminated by the opal light of a full moon.

The moonlight cloaks the path in glittering dust.

The air smells of damp pine needles and the soft forest floor beneath your feet.

The velvet sack is heavy and yet quite manageable as you have been carrying this familiar weight around with you for quite some time.

Your feet leave impressions in the soft ground as you climb to the summit.

Each step you count as you ascend.

One,

Two,

Three,

Four.

More relaxed as you go.

One,

Two,

Three,

Four.

One,

Two,

Three,

Four.

One,

Two,

Three,

Four.

One,

Two,

Three,

Four.

You feel more and more tired as you climb,

While also feeling more purposeful.

Continue upward,

Hauling the velvet sack of peace stealers on your back.

Your will to climb towards the peak reveals your strength and dedication to this mission.

You forget where you left off,

Yet begin to count again.

22,

23,

24,

25,

26,

27.

Each count brings you to a deeper sense of relief.

You are more and more grateful as the moonlight filters through an opening in the canopy of evergreen trees and you arrive at the summit.

You stand in the light of the full moon.

The full moon brings a sacred time that has been used for thousands of years to let go of the past and things that no longer serve your journey.

The silhouettes of purple black mountains jet against the sky of a million stars.

You open the bag and it takes over.

It opens to its widest and all the things you have been carrying start to float in the glittering ebony stream.

All these things that disrupt your peace speed away into the vast universe.

You feel yourself becoming lighter like an iridescent white feather that wafts on the night breeze above the rolling hills of the valley.

You feel your heart opening and your head becomes lighter.

You see all the things that haven't served you dancing as holograms until they disappear into the darkness.

And as the last of these undesirables disappear,

You say aloud,

Your absence brings me peace.

You smile and say it again with even more confidence.

Your absence brings me peace.

This is a statement of fact.

It brings the focus back to you.

You no longer need to put energy into understanding or maneuvering or managing these things that no longer serve you.

Their absence brings you peace.

Should these things revisit you or challenge you in your waking life,

You may take a pause as soon as you notice and you may disengage from them.

And in this silent moment you will feel empowered as you say,

Your absence brings me peace.

And you will savor and feel that peace that washes over you when you surrender and let go.

Because sometimes you hang on to something for so long that it feels normal to always be weighed down.

And as their absence brings you peace,

You find the good in goodbye.

And every goodbye comes with a promise of hello.

You stand on the summit and bask in the moonlight.

You deeply inhale the misty mountain air.

You place one hand on your heart and the other on your belly.

Your torso expands towards the full moon.

Lighter and freer than it has been in a long time,

You say hello to peace.

Your cherished sacred peace.

The nerve cells in your body become like the fans in a crowd that cheer enthusiastically.

Joy spills out through their claps and voices.

They no longer need to exist in a state of alarm.

They let go and send pleasant sensations of peace and safety.

The same is true for your muscles,

Your organs,

Your heart,

Your lungs,

Your gut,

Your brain.

They all thrive in this moment of surrender and peace.

For you have listened to them and done what you needed to do.

It may have not seemed or felt easy,

But you can do hard things and you can do them well.

When you protect your peace,

You protect every cell in your body.

You protect your present,

You protect your future,

And you honor your past lessons that have brought you to this clarity.

You protect the opportunities to build the life you desire and to serve.

And come time for sleep,

You pave a vibrant soothing road that leads towards your dreamscape.

You float through time and space so much lighter than when this journey began.

Sometimes we do not know how heavy the load is until we are released from its weight.

You soar and then you drift,

Sailing on the beautiful winds of confidence and appreciation for yourself.

The night is a canvas for celebrating the deep healing that takes place consciously and on a deep subconscious level.

When you surrender to sleep,

You drift and float until you feel yourself land softly onto your bed in the sanctuary of your room.

In a sacred place,

Only you need to know what happens and goes on.

You are the protector of your peace.

And you will discover that more and more you let go of things.

You de-escalate and remove yourself from situations that do not maintain your peace.

As your nervous system becomes regulated,

You are more resilient and flexible.

It takes less energy to respond and you honor your boundaries.

Your boundaries are yours to define and they are not up for discussion.

They are for your self- protection as you tend to your needs and look after your body and spirit.

You settle in your room and take this time to visualize protectors of your peace.

These imagined sentinels stand guard when you are in need of protection,

When your nervous system is on alert.

Knowing that they are there empowers you to trust yourself,

To trust your body.

You feel capable of handling any situation.

The first sentinel protects your mind.

Your protector may be a person you admire,

A character,

An animal,

Or an object.

Use the unlimited powers of your imagination to conjure what feels right for you.

The guard may change whenever necessary.

The sentinel protects your values,

Your thoughts,

And your beliefs.

The mind is malleable and you may honor an openness to growth and new knowledge while also recognizing thoughts that do not belong.

The sentinel of your mind aligns with your highest self,

Offering you the mental journey that you desire and because you desire peace,

Your mind will choose peace.

Feel the warmth and softness that comes when your mind relaxes and surrenders.

Safe,

Secure,

Loved,

And nurtured.

You find it easier to get comfortable and drift to sleep when your mind is in this secure and content place.

Imagine a light in a color that soothes your mind and your sentinel floating through this illuminated hue.

Take this moment to luxuriate in the feeling that comes when your mind is safe and cared for.

As you let go,

Your inner peace restored and protected.

Your attention gravitates to your heart space.

Your heart is open and light.

At the same time you are protected by a sentinel,

This may be the same protector of your mind or you may visualize another keeper of peace dancing before your sternum.

Your chest is cloaked in a colorful light that soothes you.

Your heart emanates peaceful love and you are safe to keep your heart open to receiving this love.

As your healthy mind and body know when to let go of relationships that do not serve you,

You see the sentinel of your heart dancing in the warm soothing light.

And with your mind and heart protected,

You now envision the protector of all of you.

All over your body from the crown of your head down your torso,

Arms and legs,

You feel a soft vibration as you connect to the pleasure that may thrive when you are safe and protected.

An aura of light covers you entirely in a bubble of self-care and self-preservation.

You experience clarity as you float in this healing light,

Protected and looked after in a nurturing,

Strong,

Resilient way.

The light swarms around you and brings as much peace and safety as a newborn feels when swaddled in a baby blanket and embraced by loving arms.

There are things you have released and their absence brings you peace.

And now you may focus on what remains.

The comforts of love,

Healing and self-care.

The presence of these things bring you peace.

Covered in the soothing light,

It begins to dissolve into the air and you are left in the comforts of your bed.

You are ready to drift to sleep,

Safe to dream of all the things that bring you peace.

Your attention gravitates towards these peaceful ideas.

Contentment,

Images and good memories,

Hopes and dreams float across your mind.

They have a deep connection to your conscious and subconscious.

There is more space for all that you love as you have set free all that no longer serves you.

You visualize walking down a long corridor.

Sheer curtains dance on the night breeze that slips through open floor to ceiling windows.

The smooth cool floor glistens in moonlight beneath your bare feet.

And with each step you get closer and closer to sleep.

You feel strong.

You feel resilient.

Your nervous system is flexible.

Your heart is open.

Your mind is free.

As if in an ethereal dance with time,

You float above the floor with each foot that rises and embrace the wonders of the night.

With each step you go deeper and deeper into the soft darkness that leads you to sleep.

Two,

Three,

Four,

Five.

More relaxed and at peace.

You continue drifting.

Six,

Seven,

Eight,

Nine,

Ten.

Your attention fades into the quiet landscape of peace.

Eleven,

Twelve,

Thirteen,

Fourteen,

Fifteen.

More and more you fade away,

Letting go,

Permitting yourself to surrender to the tide of peace.

You allow sleep to wash over you,

Welcoming the waves that come,

Drifting,

Softening,

Gliding into the plush comforts of deep rest.

All things fade away,

But for the pleasant arrival of sleep,

You welcome it like an old friend,

Happy to reunite with this respite from life.

The boundaries between consciousness and sleep blur,

And you hover between the two,

Knowing that when you are ready and you feel very ready,

You may surrender to sleep.

You may surrender to bliss.

You may welcome the peace that has been with you all along,

Finding grace,

Finding hope,

Finding serenity,

Finding sleep.

It's time to dream away.
