Standing in mountain is a short practice that invites you to connect with the qualities of a mountain. This can be a helpful way to feel grounded and supported, and can be used in many situations where we feel distressed or overwhelmed by difficult thoughts, emotions, or physical sensations.

Standing in Mountain.

It's helpful for us to have a practice that we can turn to to help us to feel more settled and grounded.

Remembering that for some people,

Some of the time,

It can be challenging to stand even for a few minutes.

So making a choice now about what's wise for you today.

Whether to do this practice standing or perhaps seated in a chair with your eyes closed and imagining the posture.

And we can do this practice anytime,

Anywhere.

Choosing whether to have eyes open or closed.

And coming now to standing.

Feeling the contact with your feet on the floor,

The ground beneath you.

Perhaps exploring these sensations of contact.

Sensations inside the feet.

Gently moving the attention through the legs.

Up towards the pelvis.

Perhaps gently tucking the pelvis in so that it's in neutral.

Soft.

And carrying on up through the spine.

Noticing how the spine lifts out from the pelvis.

All the way through to the top of your head,

The very top.

Rising up,

A sense of uplift.

Standing like a mountain.

And inviting you now to return the attention to the feet on the floor.

Noticing any sensations of being grounded.

Rooted.

Connected to the ground.

Perhaps as if your feet had roots.

Weight of the body going down,

Height of the body going up.

Standing tall,

Like a mountain.

And if you choose to now,

Perhaps opening the eyes as you stand in mountain.

Taking in your surroundings.

Colors,

Light,

Textures.

Having the gaze soft.

Feeling your body.

Standing,

Breathing.

Like a majestic mountain.

Grounded.

Tall.

Fully present.

And remember that we can stand in mountain at any time during our day.

And feel the sense of being grounded.

Standing in mountain.
