Hello!
Hi my friends.
I'm so excited for today's meditation.
The turning of a page from one year to the next is one of my favorite times of year.
It's full of hope and energy and a feeling of renewal.
I hope you'll join me for the next few minutes in setting our intentions for 2024.
So please take your time and get settled in now.
Find a comfortable position,
Ideally sitting up straight in a quiet place,
So that you can give this exercise the time and attention that it deserves.
Let's start by closing the eyes and bringing the attention to the breath,
Letting it be easy and natural.
Feel the rise of the chest as you inhale and letting it fall as you exhale.
Feeling the earth beneath you,
Pressing up against your seat,
Backs of the legs,
And the bottoms of your feet,
Gently holding you up.
And come into your body,
Being here now in the present moment.
And now that we are centered and present here,
I invite you to begin to draw your attention internally and start to see how it is in your inner world today.
And as we begin to imagine and set our intentions for the coming year,
Set aside any of the usual new year's resolutions and goals.
I'm talking about the usual ones,
The types of goals that typically pop up around this time of year and that you yourself may have set in years past.
Also for now,
Set aside anything that happened this year,
Any regrets,
Or anything that you'd like to bring in to the next year.
Set all of that aside for now and let yourself come with a blank slate and an open mind.
Take a nice deep breath in and a deep breath out.
And now taking a moment to consider if you could only have or achieve one thing in 2024,
What would it be?
What is the one thing that your heart truly desires?
This truly could be anything as concrete as a promotion or a milestone,
Or it could be a feeling that you want to feel.
What is the one thing that your heart truly desires?
Or phrased in another way,
What would make your heart sing?
What would make your heart sing?
And just taking a moment to contemplate this,
Feeling this question not only in the mind but also in the body and in the heart.
What does your heart truly desire?
And at this point,
If an answer has already presented itself to you,
Be brave and go a little bit deeper.
What is it that you really want?
And be open to whatever is coming up.
Perhaps your answer changes as you go deeper.
And once you have this vision or picture in your mind,
Let yourself get really close to it.
Really draw it near.
How would it be to truly achieve this?
To achieve your goal?
How would that look?
How would it feel?
And asking yourself,
What would it mean about me to have achieved this?
What does achieving this say about you?
What would it mean about you?
Why is this one thing so important to you?
And conversely,
What would it mean if you didn't accomplish it?
What would happen?
And how would that feel?
And as we start to come to the end of this meditation,
What is one word or phrase that describes your intention?
Make it something simple and easy to remember so that you can always come back to it when you need to remember your focus and your vision.
Lastly,
Release your intention.
Let it go out into the world and start to bring your attention back into your body.
Noticing the cadence and the feeling of your breath again,
Your inhales and exhales.
And when you're ready,
Start to warm up the body again with a few small movements and opening the eyes.
Thank you so much for meditating with me today.
If you're feeling brave,
Put it in writing.
What is your intention for 2024?
Wherever you are,
I wish you a wonderful rest of your year and a beautiful start to 2024.
