If you are an entrepreneur,
Content creator,
Freelancer,
Or side hustler who sometimes experiences feelings of fear,
Perfectionism,
Comparison,
And doubt,
Then this meditation is for you.
Alright,
Let's get started in the usual way by coming to a comfortable seated position with your back long and tall.
If you're used to sitting at a desk or in an office chair,
It might be helpful to do this meditation in a different spot,
Or perhaps with your chair turned the other way or pushed away from your desk.
You want to close or minimize all other applications and silence your notifications so that you can spend the next few minutes undisturbed.
Closing the eyes now,
Settle into your seat,
Become aware of your physical body in space.
Take an assessment of what's here right now.
And turning your focus inward,
Bring your attention to any emotions you may be feeling.
Just like the breath,
The body,
Or the thoughts,
Emotions are another aspect of reality that we experience.
As someone who works creatively or outside the typical 9 to 5 structure,
You may find yourself occasionally or frequently experiencing some challenging emotions related to your work.
Oftentimes,
Entrepreneurs or content creators especially struggle with feelings of fear of their work not being good enough,
Feeling paralyzed by perfectionism,
Getting stuck into comparing their work or their progress with others,
Or doubt that they're ever going to achieve the success that they dream of.
And there are a lot of different ways people approach their feelings or emotions.
If they're positive,
We usually don't have any problem with them,
But if they're negative,
Sometimes we try to avoid them by stuffing them down,
Covering them up with maladaptive coping mechanisms like scrolling on our screens,
Distracting ourselves with our relationships,
Food,
Or other substances.
Sometimes,
We cope by trying to deny that we even feel the emotions.
But through meditation,
We come to understand that our negative emotions are not problems to be fixed or solved.
Feelings are meant to be felt,
And through our meditation practice,
We give them a safe space to come up and process them.
So,
Get curious about whatever is arising in the emotional plane.
What's here?
And notice how does it feel in the body?
And as you let those feelings talk to you,
Resist the temptation to yes and that feeling with your thoughts and any story that you've come up with around the situation.
If you feel envious of somebody else's success or their follower count or the quality of their content,
Focus on what the physical sensations feel like.
Does your stomach tighten?
Do you feel a twinge in your chest?
Stay with the sensations.
Gently coming out of it now,
Slowly open your eyes and come back to the room where you are.
As you continue this work of listening and attending to your emotions,
Eventually,
You may feel some space open up inside of you.
And one day,
You may look back at the original trigger and see it completely differently.
I know it took a lot of courage to show up to this practice today,
