It's bedtime now.
Time to snuggle into bed and let your eyes softly close.
Let's take three deep breaths together.
Ready?
Good.
Notice how warm and safe and comfortable you feel.
Keeping your eyes closed,
Allow your mind now to travel with the sound of my voice.
Beneath you,
Your bed has transformed into a warm,
Slippery surface.
As you open your eyes,
First your top and bottom eyelids,
Then your third eyelid,
You find yourself lying on your belly in warm,
Silky mud.
The sounds of buzzing insects,
The croaking of frogs,
The songs of birds float to you through the air.
You notice that you are hearing these sounds from a different place than usual.
Rather than hearing through ears at the sides of your head,
You can sense that the sound is being filtered through ears just behind your eyes.
Your eyes sit at the top of your long head with its V-shaped jaw full of sharp,
Pointy teeth.
As you look straight down your muzzle,
You see a mound where your two nostrils are bringing in the rich scents of the swamp.
You sense your arms and legs to the sides of your body,
And you bring your clawed feet underneath you to stand.
These powerful limbs only slightly lift you off the muddy ground,
And your claws sink a little with the weight of you into the mud.
Your body feels heavy and quite long.
You turn your head to get a look at the rest of you,
And you see that you are covered in large scales.
Ridges of pointed scales protect your back all the way to the end of your thick,
Massive tail.
You are an impressive,
Strong animal with a cunning smile.
You decide to take this new body for a walk.
Your right front foot and left back foot move in unison.
Your tail switches side to side,
Dragging on the ground and helping you to balance.
At first,
This feels awkward,
And then you find the rhythm,
And it begins to feel natural.
As you walk,
You take in the sights.
There are tall trees strewn with long,
Wispy moss.
Trees grow right out of the mud.
Some of their roots are exposed.
Other trees are growing in the water.
This place has a magical feeling to it.
It feels simultaneously quiet and filled with sound.
There is a stillness about it,
But you can sense that it is teeming with life.
You decide to take a closer look at the trees growing in the water,
And you feel the temperature change slightly as your arms,
Belly,
Legs,
And tail enter the water.
You find that you can float quite easily.
Your eyes,
Nostrils,
And ears stay safely above the water as you glide towards a crop of trees.
You decide to investigate the roots of these trees,
So you cautiously lower your eyes into the water.
As you do so,
Your third eyelid neatly slides across your eye for protection.
There are even internal flaps that protect your ears,
Nostrils,
And throat so water is not able to come in.
It feels wonderful to be able to see and explore underwater.
You can see the roots of the trees finger-like and descending into the muddy ground.
You see fish varying in size swimming past.
There are bunches of algae growing in the water and lots of reeds shooting up from the ground through the water and into the air above.
You turn back for the land,
Your webbed feet propelling you with grace to the water's edge.
You start to feel a deep sense of relaxation come over you from the tip of your muzzle,
Down the length of your head,
Down your back and into your body,
Down your arms and legs and feet,
And all the way to the end of your long,
Thick tail.
You let your eyelids become heavy and gently let them close.
Your breathing becomes soft and effortless.
You are completely comfortable lying with the front of your body in a sunny patch of mud while the rest of your body remains cool floating in the water.
You breathe in the smell of the water and the air and the earth.
The muscles in your body release and you feel fully supported by the ground beneath you.
You are completely relaxed and you let yourself drift off to sleep.
Good night little crocodile.
