This recording is guidance to a metta or loving kindness meditation practice. It involves firstly rousing this quality and then dropping into the experience of becoming absorbed into metta. After letting it pervade one’s body and being, the invitation is to let this quality radiate in all directions boundlessly. This is a meditation from a 10 day online silent meditation retreat with Malcolm Huxter and Lisa Brown in Aug-Sept 2021

How to arms the ear and open up the 55 Terms Boundless Metta metta.

So establish your posture,

So that it's stable,

Balanced,

Free from discomfort and at ease.

Having rouse and intention for this practice and having rouse and intention settle your body mind and speech,

Inner speech,

Into quietude,

Stillness and tranquility.

And now you're invited to rouse this quality of metta,

Warm benevolence,

Warm friendliness,

Loving kindness and use whatever works for you.

It could be patting your dog or imagining you're patting your dog.

It could be remembering a hug you did receive from a dear friend.

It could be seeing a child or having a hug from a child.

It could be just a memory of an interaction you had with a wise benevolent teacher or friend.

It could even be just remembering an awesome place,

Whatever works for you.

Spend a few moments rousing this quality of warm benevolence.

And notice your heart's response.

Drop into your heart.

Drop from doing into being metta.

Stemming from that place that's in the heart.

Letting metta to fade your being.

Spread throughout your being.

Heal you.

And it's qualities of warmth,

Friendliness,

It's smile,

A sense of being cherished and loved genuinely,

Unconditionally.

Let this quality touch every part of you.

As if your being is dripping saturated with warm benevolence.

Put aside doubts.

Put aside their hindrances.

Let warm benevolence flourish.

And sometimes it can be topped up with a little reminder such as the smile of your friend.

Or the tail wagging of your pet.

As much as possible.

Let go of the concepts and sink into the feeling,

The being.

Metta.

Let it consume you.

Let it absorb into you and you absorb into it.

Like a light shining throughout you.

It begins to shine beyond you.

What we normally call ourselves.

And it's like you pull aside a curtain to the front of you and as you pull it aside this light shines out.

Shines out boundlessly in front of you.

Infinitely spacious.

No boundaries.

And gently and slowly and gradually it's like pulling aside a curtain to your right.

Letting the light of this beautiful quality.

Unconditional love.

Warm benevolence.

Being kindness.

Saturation in kindness.

Warm,

Warm friendliness.

Let it shine out boundlessly to your right.

And slowly pulling aside the curtain behind you.

To the left of you.

And pulling aside the shudders and the barriers above you.

And below you.

Samitda is radiating in all directions.

Infinitely.

Boundlessly.

No boundaries.

No limits.

Immeasurable.

Sublime.

Beautiful.

Divine.

Abide in this divine mode of metta.

Metta is like a conch shell.

Loud.

Beautiful sound.

Can be heard from afar.

Conch shell being blown like a horn.

Infinitely radiating.

Heard clearly from afar.

Radiating in all directions.

Like the sound of a bell.
