So,
Let's begin by going to the breath,
Allowing the sensation of breathing to ground you into the present moment,
Acknowledging that there's nowhere to go,
No place to be other than right here,
Right now.
And when you feel comfortable and your body is relaxed,
Imagining now sitting in a comfortable chair on the beach,
The grains of sand brushing up against your bare feet,
The warm sun against your skin,
You can hear the gentle waves rocking back and forth,
The sound is hypnotic and soothing,
You're wearing a light cotton robe that feels soft and gentle against your skin,
Everything is perfect,
Exactly what you want it to be,
There are no troubles,
No fears,
No anxiety,
Just peacefulness.
And in this state of total relaxation,
Bringing awareness now to your physical or emotional pain,
Knowing that there's no fear to amplify the pain,
That you can be with it as it is without attaching emotions to it,
Feeling it as raw sensation and allowing yourself to describe the pain,
To give it qualities that would help you to understand it better,
Perhaps imagining that you are an observer of your pain and not the victim of it,
Perhaps imagining that your pain is a red ball of energy,
The color is swirling and twisting and moving,
Maybe the color is pulsating,
Keeping pace with your beating heart.
What does this emotional or physical pain feel like for you?
Does it have an aching sensation or perhaps feel swollen and inflamed?
Maybe it's a twisting pain or perhaps has a stabbing quality to it.
Does it burn like fire or perhaps feel like electric shocks?
Or maybe it's tight and spasming or shooting and intense.
Does it have an aching sensation or perhaps feels swollen and inflamed?
Perhaps your pain is an overwhelming thought or anxiety from a past trauma,
Feeling courageous to explore this type of emotional pain in your mind's eye.
Taking a few moments to be with the pain as it is,
As raw sensation,
Recognizing that this is challenging to do and it's difficult to define your pain without turning away from it.
And now,
Having examined the pain and defining it in your mind's eye,
Let's begin to use the mind to heal the pain,
To control the severity and to lessen the intensity.
Let's begin by going back to the image of sitting on the beach,
Your feet in the sand,
The sound of the waves,
The warm sun against your skin.
Now imagining the sun's light entering your body.
Imagine the light is the most beautiful,
Brilliant white light that you've ever seen.
It doesn't hurt to look at it or to feel it.
It's incredibly comfortable and healing.
And as this white light enters your body,
Imagine it going directly to the pain.
Imagine the light transforming the red,
Inflamed,
Achy,
Tight,
Spasming,
Sharp pain into a beautiful,
Blue-green color.
See the color changing in your mind's eye.
Feel the healing warmth of the blue-green color in your body.
Feeling the ball of pain reducing,
Feeling it shrink and lessen and grow smaller and smaller being replaced by this beautiful blue-green healing light.
And now feeling that healing light permeating through every part of your body,
Spreading through every part of you,
Your arms and legs,
Your hands and feet,
Your belly and chest,
Your head.
And then imagine it radiating outside of your body,
Filling the air around you in that beautiful blue-green color.
The healing light circling and swirling around you,
Feeling the warmth,
Feeling like you're in a cocoon of safety.
Here you are safe.
Here you are free.
Here you are peaceful.
And for the next few minutes in silence,
Staying wrapped in this cocoon and allowing the body to be healed and comforted and nurtured.
And now with this feeling of being free.
This feeling of being healed,
Bringing your attention back to yourself sitting on the beach,
Hearing the waves for the last few times and feeling the sun against your skin.
Pushing your feet into the sand as you get up,
You slowly walk away from the chair and continue walking along the shore of the beach.
And in this moment,
You feel powerful.
You feel as though you have control over your body and over your pain.
You feel at peace.
Bringing your awareness now to the breath.
Breathing.
Being in this moment.
Being at peace.
Tranquil.
Healed.
Reassured.
