Regulating Our Brains & Nervous Systems In Abundance
by Li Meuser
In this 17-minute rest, we learn how to orient our attention so as to regulate our brains and nervous systems, and then learn how to connect with the abundance of now through direct experience. Please push pause any time you need more time to drop in. This track contains ambient sounds in the background

And letting the eyes stay open but let your eyes come off the screen.
And just letting your eyes see the neutrality in your room,
Whatever that means to you.
Might be the texture of the wall.
Might be the texture of the ceiling or something of the ceiling.
Seeing the neutrality of the floor in whatever way that registers for you.
Really letting your brain map it.
Really seeing the floor.
Picking it in.
Letting your nervous system register it.
To help your nervous system and brain do that we connect to the tangibility,
The textures,
The somethings of it.
So we don't go quick.
Noticing the existence of doors and windows.
We don't go quick.
We let the brain register.
There's doors here,
There's windows.
We could leave at any moment if we wanted.
We take a moment to look behind and we don't rush.
We look to one side and then to the other.
And we let our brain map this.
The space behind.
This also engages the psoas,
Which engages the vagus nerve,
What Resmaa Menakem calls the soul nerve.
When we turn behind,
When we twist like that,
We engage the nervous system directly.
There is a wisdom in everything I am inviting us to do right now.
We can choose to partake or not,
But the wisdom is available for us in bounty.
Continuing to keep the eyes open to let the brain,
The cognition,
The nervous system orient to this moment where there is no threat.
There is no danger.
If there is,
Please move to a different space.
But there likely will not be.
And so just letting your eyes,
Your nose,
Your taste buds,
Your ears,
Your sense of touch,
Notice the neutrality,
The lack of danger or threat in this moment in what you are seeing in your walls,
Ceiling,
Floor.
And also now moving to the chair.
No threat in the chair that you can see.
No threat or danger in the floor that you can see.
Your feet may or may not be on the floor.
Wherever your feet are,
Let your feet register with your eyes first,
The lack of threat with whatever your feet are connecting with.
Even if they are just hanging in space,
They are still connecting to something.
And then letting the eyes slowly close to feel your feet,
To feel what you had been seeing with your eyes open.
Now feel with your eyes closed.
Feeling the texture,
Feeling what you had been seeing.
If your feet aren't on the ground,
Adapt accordingly.
What I'm going to say next,
If your feet are on the ground,
Feel the solidity.
You can even press down.
This helps the brain and the nervous system register,
Oh,
There really is solidity.
This isn't a concept.
This is actual direct experience.
Again,
If your feet are not on solidity,
Adjust accordingly in a way that connects to the actual factual of this moment.
Feel your butt on the chair,
On the bed,
On the couch,
On the floor.
Feel in your body what you had been seeing when the eyes were open.
They're closed now and now we're feeling the solidity that we had seen before.
So feel that through the thighs,
Through the butt.
You might rearrange a little bit.
Move your body to verify,
Oh,
Yeah,
There is solidity here.
Yeah,
There is no threat or danger in my chair.
This is not a head conceptual experience.
This is a being experience.
So we register this from our being,
From our bums,
Our legs,
Our thighs,
Maybe our lower backs,
Our pelvic floors,
Our sacrum.
From our being,
We register.
We feel that solidity.
It is real in this moment.
It is an actual factual direct experience.
If your thoughts take you away,
Just gently come back to what is actually here in your experience.
Notice other areas that you are feeling solidity.
Maybe there's arms of your chair and your arms are on them.
So your arms might feel solidity under them.
Your hands might feel solidity.
Maybe your hands are resting on your lap.
They might feel that solidity.
Adapting what I'm saying to your context,
What is directly supporting your limbs,
Your back,
Maybe even your head in this context,
In your context.
Letting the brain and the nervous system receive the truth,
Which is that we are supported directly in this moment,
Not conceptually,
But in action and engagement and beingness right now.
Our systems are being held and we can let attention orient to that.
Ushering grace and compassion for ourselves if this is difficult.
We're not trained to orient to simplicity and to the present.
So our thoughts may be busy and that's okay.
As you're able to gently bring them to the actual factual where support is waiting for you,
Is waiting for your being to merge with this unconditionality that is here.
You'll start to notice that there's a sense of solidity here in your being,
Which is not to say there's not movement because there is a movement.
So there's movement in the body.
We can feel that through the breath,
Through the heart beating,
Maybe through the digestive system,
Through thoughts and images.
So now there is both movement and stillness.
We're inviting to include more,
To include what we often don't orient to.
So we keep bringing our attention to what is unmoving while acknowledging there is also movement.
I'm going to continue to be quiet for a few moments just letting your attention explore the non-binariness of this moment,
The unmoving and the moving.
Drop below the thoughts,
Come to the actual experience of this moment as it resonates for you.
Okay.
In this moment,
We're really inviting our nervous system to receive what is here.
The unmovingness of support that is always here,
We experience it through the field of gravity.
We experience it through land.
The land that we reside on in our homes or that we are always on in some way or another,
Walking,
Driving,
Shopping,
We are always on land.
This land that we are on is always supporting us,
Always here in real direct time experience,
Offering our bodies,
Our forms a place on our short journey on earth.
We are also always given the abundance of water.
We can feel that in our bodies.
We are two-thirds water and then we have water that comes through this land,
Which we may not be experiencing right now directly,
But we have the water in our beings.
We might feel our heart beating,
Blood and blood is liquid.
It's comprised of water,
Contains water.
We are water.
We are supported by water every moment of our existence.
We are supported by the abundance of oxygen every moment.
Unconditionally,
We receive this gift.
Every moment we receive fire,
The gift of fire,
The sun allows us to be here.
We are 100% dependent upon sun,
Upon fire,
And that fire essence moves through our heart beating.
It moves through our energetic system.
It grows our food.
Every moment of our existence,
We receive,
We are receiving the nourishment and the support of fire.
As you feel the heat of your body,
That's fire.
Maybe you feel that heat in the palms,
Maybe you feel it in your heartbeat,
Maybe you feel it somewhere else in your armpits.
You're fire,
There's fire,
You're fire.
You're not apart from fire ever.
So we are mapping with our cognition the truth,
The truth of abundance,
The truth of existence,
The truth of nourishment,
The truth of unconditionality in our relationship in and as and with that,
Them.
Just notice for yourself what is standing out in this moment for you.
Keep it as simple as possible.
What is simply arriving,
Arising,
Revealing itself to you.
Feel that.
Be curious of that.
And let your eyes start to slowly open,
Mapping again the neutrality in your space,
The actual factualness.
And then I'm going to invite you to do,
We're going to do just a three minute fast write here.
And I invite you to write down some things that you are noticing right now or noticed during that rest of connection.
