This grounding and resourcing meditation was inspired by the trees in the Redwood forest. Their roots embrace each other as they meet underground, supporting each other through thick and thin. Although it was recorded live during the class, I added some subtle nature sounds in the background.

Do the tree meditation.

So you can close your eyes or keep it open,

Doesn't matter,

It's going to be fairly short,

Just grounding.

And then you can kind of make connection with your body,

You can start doing it with your breath or with the sound.

And then I want to bring your attention to the areas that you contact with the ground.

And envisioning that stability and support is anchoring you into the ground in a very supportive and nurturing way.

You can even envision growing roots through the bottoms of your feet,

Through the back of your legs,

Whatever feels appropriate for you.

And as a tree,

See if that can help you to have this felt sense how the earth can be supportive and you can actually receive.

And you can also give it back,

Whatever you don't need,

You can give it,

Like we did last time,

We can drain what is ready to let go down into the earth.

And you can also envision in yourself as the big gray giant tree like giant sequoias where your trunk is so stable that when the life no matter what the circumstances with the turbulence,

You will sway you.

Yet,

You are unmovable.

Just imagine that inner stability,

Inner peace,

That kind of keeps and the deeper the roots,

The taller the tree.

And you can even envision you're so tall and you're so far into the atmosphere that the air is fresh.

And as you deepen your inhale as if you had a huge crown of leaves.

And there's an air that just come in and nurture you.

And then also as you exhale,

You participate in this delicate balance of give and take between you and the nature and everything around you.

And there's one more thing I would invite you to bring to your awareness and to see if you can get a felt sense is the sense of interconnectedness.

How you one with so many elements that you're not alone.

And that just like the redwood trees,

The reason they survive so many disasters on such unstable soil is the roots go down and wide.

And when they meet each other,

When each tree have the roots meet,

They embrace each other,

They wrap themselves around.

So each tree in the entire forest is connected.

So no matter how far you are from people who are a resource for you,

You can always envision this invisible roots connecting you and holding you up when you're struggling and offering that help to whoever is struggling.

Just kind of feel the quality of your breathing.

See if you can sense maybe what is the breathing feel in your heart right now?

What's that?

What's the heart space feel like for you?

Let's go ahead and whenever you're ready on your own time,

Transition yourself in a gentle way from the meditation and that could mean moving your body first and then opening your eyes.

Welcome back.
